反而步以色列諸王的後塵，又鑄造巴力神像。他不但在欣嫩子谷燒香，還效法耶和華在以色列人面前趕走的外族人的可憎行徑，焚燒自己的兒子作祭物。他還在邱壇、山岡和綠樹下獻祭燒香。

他重蹈亞哈家的覆轍，因為他的母親唆使他作惡。

他與亞哈家一樣步以色列諸王的後塵，因為他娶了亞哈的女兒為妻，做耶和華視為惡的事。

國中甚至男廟妓充斥。猶大人仿效耶和華在以色列人面前趕走的外族人，行各種可憎之事。

他污瀆欣嫩子谷中的陀斐特，使人們不能焚燒自己的兒女獻給摩洛。

他不但步尼八的兒子耶羅波安的後塵，還娶了西頓王葉巴力的女兒耶洗別為妻，供奉、祭拜巴力。他在撒瑪利亞為巴力建廟，在廟裡為巴力設立祭壇。他還造了亞舍拉神像，所作所為比先前諸王更惹以色列的上帝耶和華發怒。

他做耶和華視為惡的事，步他父母的後塵，效法使以色列人陷入罪中的尼八之子耶羅波安。他像他父親一樣供奉、祭拜巴力，惹以色列的上帝耶和華發怒。
