Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. Unlike David his father, he did not do what was right in the eyes of the Lord his God.

所羅門年老的時候，他的嬪妃誘惑他的心去追隨別的神明。他沒有像他父親大衛那樣忠心順服他的上帝耶和華。所羅門拜西頓人的女神亞斯她錄和亞捫人的可憎神明米勒公。他做了耶和華視為惡的事，沒有像他父親大衛那樣忠心順服耶和華。在耶路撒冷東面的山上，所羅門为摩押人可憎的神明基抹和亞捫人可憎的神明摩洛修建邱壇。他又為所有的外邦妃嬪修建邱壇，供她們向自己的神明燒香獻祭。

亞比央和他父親一樣作惡多端，沒有像他祖先大衛一樣忠於他的上帝耶和華。

約坦效法他父親烏西雅，做耶和華視為正的事，

希西迦效法他祖先大衛，做耶和華視為正的事。

約西亞做耶和華視為正的事，事事效法他祖先大衛，不偏不離。

耶和華與約沙法同在，因為他效法他祖先大衛起初所行的，沒有尋求巴力，

希西迦效法他祖先大衛，做耶和華視為正的事。

你若像你父親大衛一樣遵行我的道，遵守我的律例和誡命，我必使你長壽。」
