假如别人在你们身上享有这权利，何况我们呢？然而，我们并没有用过这权利，倒是凡事忍受，免得基督的福音受到阻碍。

只有我和巴拿巴没有权利不做工吗？

我贬低自己，为了使你们高升，因为我白白地传神的福音给你们，难道这算是我犯了错吗？我剥夺了别的教会，向他们取了报酬来效劳你们。我在你们那里有缺乏的时候，并没有连累你们一个人，因为我所缺乏的，那些从马其顿来的弟兄都补足了。我向来凡事谨慎，将来也必谨慎，总不要连累你们。

如今，我准备第三次到你们那里去。我仍不会连累你们，因为我所求的是你们，不是你们的财物。儿女不该为父母积财，父母该为儿女积财。

但这权利我全然没有用过。我写这些话，并非要你们这样待我，因为我宁可死也不让人使我所夸的落了空。我传福音原没有可夸耀的，因为我是不得已的，若不传福音，我就有祸了。我若甘心做这事，就有赏赐；若不甘心，责任却已经托付给我了。这样，我的赏赐是什么呢？就是我传福音的时候，使人不花钱得福音，免得我用尽了传福音的权利。
