I don’t want to seem as though I am trying to terrify you with my letters.

我说这话，免得你们以为我写信是要威吓你们；

予作此言、庶免書面威脅之嫌。

I do not want to seem to be trying to frighten you with my letters.

I don’t want to seem as though I am trying to terrify you with my letters.

for I do not want to seem as if I would terrify you by my letters.

lest I seem to terrify you by letters.

that I may not seem as if I would terrify you by my letters.

That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters.

I do not want to seem as though I am trying to terrify you with my letters,

that I may not seem as if I desire to terrify you by my letters.

For it is said,“ His letters are weighty and powerful, but his physical presence is weak, and his public speaking is despicable.”

But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I will know not the talk but the power of those who are inflated with pride.For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.What do you want? Should I come to you with a rod, or in love and a spirit of gentleness?

Therefore don’t judge anything prematurely, before the Lord comes, who will both bring to light what is hidden in darkness and reveal the intentions of the hearts. And then praise will come to each one from God.
