你们认木头为父，认石头为母。你们不是面向我而是背对我，危难时却向我求救。

但我们的祖先行事狂傲，顽固不化，不肯听从你的诫命。

我们的祖先犯了罪，已经逝去，我们却要承担他们的罪责。

“你们和你们的祖先、君王、官长及其他所有百姓在犹大各城和耶路撒冷的街上烧香，耶和华岂不记得，岂能遗忘？

你这不是自食其果吗？因为你的上帝耶和华一路引导你的时候，你却背弃祂。

从我们的祖先开始到现在，我们罪恶深重。由于我们的罪恶，我们、我们的君王和祭司都落在外邦君王的手中，被他们杀害、俘虏、抢掠和羞辱，如同今天的光景。

主啊，你一向公义，求你不要向你的耶路撒冷城——你的圣山发烈怒。由于我们的罪恶和我们祖先的过犯，耶路撒冷和你的子民成了四围邻人嘲讽的对象。

竟去祭拜打败他的大马士革人的神明，说：“既然亚兰王的神明帮助了亚兰人，我要向这些神明献祭，以便它们帮助我。”但那些神明导致了他和全体以色列人的灭亡。亚哈斯将耶和华上帝殿里的器皿收集起来打碎，封锁殿门，并在耶路撒冷的每个角落为自己设立祭坛。他还在犹大各城建立丘坛，向其他神明烧香，惹他祖先的上帝耶和华发怒。

反而步以色列诸王的后尘，又铸造巴力神像。他不但在欣嫩子谷烧香，还效法耶和华在以色列人面前赶走的外族人的可憎行径，焚烧自己的儿子作祭物。他还在丘坛、山冈和绿树下献祭烧香。

因为我的子民犯了两项罪，他们离弃了我这活水源泉，为自己挖了不能蓄水的破池子。

耶和华啊，你是我的力量，是我的堡垒，是我患难时的避难所。万国都要从地极来朝见你，说：“我们祖先所拜的神像虚假无用，一无是处。

“你们去为我、为以色列和犹大的余民求问耶和华有关这书卷上的话。耶和华的烈怒已经临到我们身上，因为我们的祖先没有遵守耶和华的话，没有遵行这书卷上的话。”

“爱父母过于爱我的人不配做我的门徒；爱儿女过于爱我的人不配做我的门徒；

‘如果我们活在我们祖先的时代，绝不会和他们一起去杀害先知。’这样，你们自己证明自己是杀害先知之人的后代。去填满你们祖先的罪恶吧！

“因此，我们的上帝啊，你是伟大、全能、可畏、守约、施慈爱的上帝，求你不要轻看我们的王、首领、祭司、先知、祖先和你的子民从亚述诸王时代直到今天所受的苦难。
