You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times.For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred.They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self control. They will be cruel and hate what is good.They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God.They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!They are the kind who work their way into people’s homes and win the confidence of vulnerable women who are burdened with the guilt of sin and controlled by various desires.( Such women are forever following new teachings, but they are never able to understand the truth.)These teachers oppose the truth just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses. They have depraved minds and a counterfeit faith.But they won’t get away with this for long. Someday everyone will recognize what fools they are, just as with Jannes and Jambres.

But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach destructive heresies and even deny the Master who bought them. In this way, they will bring sudden destruction on themselves.

They told you that in the last times there would be scoffers whose purpose in life is to satisfy their ungodly desires.

Don’t be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed— the one who brings destruction.He will exalt himself and defy everything that people call god and every object of worship. He will even sit in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God.Don’t you remember that I told you about all this when I was with you?And you know what is holding him back, for he can be revealed only when his time comes.For this lawlessness is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the one who is holding it back steps out of the way.Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, but the Lord Jesus will slay him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by the splendor of his coming.This man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles.He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them.So God will cause them to be greatly deceived, and they will believe these lies.Then they will be condemned for enjoying evil rather than believing the truth.

These people are false apostles. They are deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ.But I am not surprised! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.So it is no wonder that his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. In the end they will get the punishment their wicked deeds deserve.

Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires.

I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives. The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago, for they have denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

And some of the wise will fall victim to persecution. In this way, they will be refined and cleansed and made pure until the time of the end, for the appointed time is still to come.“ The king will do as he pleases, exalting himself and claiming to be greater than every god, even blaspheming the God of gods. He will succeed, but only until the time of wrath is completed. For what has been determined will surely take place.He will have no respect for the gods of his ancestors, or for the god loved by women, or for any other god, for he will boast that he is greater than them all.Instead of these, he will worship the god of fortresses— a god his ancestors never knew— and lavish on him gold, silver, precious stones, and expensive gifts.

and you will attack my people Israel, covering their land like a cloud. At that time in the distant future, I will bring you against my land as everyone watches, and my holiness will be displayed by what happens to you, Gog. Then all the nations will know that I am the Lord.

But evil people and impostors will flourish. They will deceive others and will themselves be deceived.

But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent.

Now I am here to explain what will happen to your people in the future, for this vision concerns a time yet to come.”

Then the devil, who had deceived them, was thrown into the fiery lake of burning sulfur, joining the beast and the false prophet. There they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

They will reject the truth and chase after myths.

And the Lord said,‘ Who can entice King Ahab of Israel to go into battle against Ramoth gilead so he can be killed?’“ There were many suggestions,and finally a spirit approached the Lord and said,‘ I can do it!’“‘ How will you do this?’ the Lord asked.“ And the spirit replied,‘ I will go out and inspire all of Ahab’s prophets to speak lies.’“‘ You will succeed,’ said the Lord.‘ Go ahead and do it.’“ So you see, the Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouths of your prophets. For the Lord has pronounced your doom.”

There may be so called gods both in heaven and on earth, and some people actually worship many gods and many lords.But for us, There is one God, the Father, by whom all things were created, and for whom we live. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created, and through whom we live.

“ It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said,‘ You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’”“ You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman.“ God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.”

“ In the distant future, when you are suffering all these things, you will finally return to the Lord your God and listen to what he tells you.

But I will restore the fortunes of Moab in days to come. I, the Lord, have spoken!” This is the end of Jeremiah’s prophecy concerning Moab.

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.

Then the Lord God asked the woman,“ What have you done?”“ The serpent deceived me,” she replied.“ That’s why I ate it.”

But I will restore the fortunes of Elam in days to come. I, the Lord, have spoken!”

Now I am returning to my own people. But first let me tell you what the Israelites will do to your people in the future.”

God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days he has been revealed for your sake.

No, not at all. I am saying that these sacrifices are offered to demons, not to God. And I don’t want you to participate with demons.

Oh, that they were wise and could understand this! Oh, that they might know their fate!

He seized the dragon— that old serpent, who is the devil, Satan— and bound him in chains for a thousand years.The angel threw him into the bottomless pit, which he then shut and locked so Satan could not deceive the nations anymore until the thousand years were finished. Afterward he must be released for a little while.

When he opened it, smoke poured out as though from a huge furnace, and the sunlight and air turned dark from the smoke.Then locusts came from the smoke and descended on the earth, and they were given power to sting like scorpions.They were told not to harm the grass or plants or trees, but only the people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.They were told not to kill them but to torture them for five months with pain like the pain of a scorpion sting.In those days people will seek death but will not find it. They will long to die, but death will flee from them!The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. They had what looked like gold crowns on their heads, and their faces looked like human faces.They had hair like women’s hair and teeth like the teeth of a lion.They wore armor made of iron, and their wings roared like an army of chariots rushing into battle.They had tails that stung like scorpions, and for five months they had the power to torment people.Their king is the angel from the bottomless pit; his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon— the Destroyer.

But afterward the people will return and devote themselves to the Lord their God and to David’s descendant, their king. In the last days, they will tremble in awe of the Lord and of his goodness.

In the last days, the mountain of the Lord’s house will be the highest of all— the most important place on earth. It will be raised above the other hills, and people from all over the world will stream there to worship.

“ Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches.

Don’t let anyone condemn you by insisting on pious self denial or the worship of angels, saying they have had visions about these things. Their sinful minds have made them proud,

It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.

The light of a lamp will never shine in you again. The happy voices of brides and grooms will never be heard in you again. For your merchants were the greatest in the world, and you deceived the nations with your sorceries.

“ Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. To everyone who is victorious I will give fruit from the tree of life in the paradise of God.

“ Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches.”

for many will come in my name, claiming,‘ I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many.And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately.Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world.But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.“ Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers.And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other.And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people.Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold.

They are demonic spirits who work miracles and go out to all the rulers of the world to gather them for battle against the Lord on that great judgment day of God the Almighty.

In the last days, the mountain of the Lord’s house will be the highest of all— the most important place on earth. It will be raised above the other hills, and people from all over the world will stream there to worship.

And the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who did mighty miracles on behalf of the beast— miracles that deceived all who had accepted the mark of the beast and who worshiped his statue. Both the beast and his false prophet were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur.

And with all the miracles he was allowed to perform on behalf of the first beast, he deceived all the people who belong to this world. He ordered the people to make a great statue of the first beast, who was fatally wounded and then came back to life.

He gave a mighty shout:“ Babylon is fallen— that great city is fallen! She has become a home for demons. She is a hideout for every foul spirit, a hideout for every foul vulture and every foul and dreadful animal.

And after they had argued back and forth among themselves, they left with this final word from Paul:“ The Holy Spirit was right when he said to your ancestors through Isaiah the prophet,

He also had a debate with some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers. When he told them about Jesus and his resurrection, they said,“ What’s this babbler trying to say with these strange ideas he’s picked up?” Others said,“ He seems to be preaching about some foreign gods.”

He will go out to deceive the nations— called Gog and Magog— in every corner of the earth. He will gather them together for battle— a mighty army, as numberless as sand along the seashore.

“ Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. To everyone who is victorious I will give some of the manna that has been hidden away in heaven. And I will give to each one a white stone, and on the stone will be engraved a new name that no one understands except the one who receives it.

“ Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches.

But the people who did not die in these plagues still refused to repent of their evil deeds and turn to God. They continued to worship demons and idols made of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood— idols that can neither see nor hear nor walk!

One day as these men were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said,“ Appoint Barnabas and Saul for the special work to which I have called them.”
