So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.

耶和華的靈會大大臨到你，你就會與他們一同說預言，轉變為另一個人。

你愛公義，恨罪惡，為此，神——你的神用喜樂的油來膏立你，而不膏立你的同伴。」

神所差派的那一位，就說神的話語，因為神不靠著量度賜下聖靈。

從耶西的樹墩必發出一個嫩芽，從他的根而出的枝子必結果實。耶和華的靈必停留在那一位身上，就是智慧和悟性的靈，謀略和大能的靈，知識和敬畏耶和華的靈。他以敬畏耶和華為樂，審斷不憑眼見，裁決不憑耳聞。

掃羅聽了這些話，神的靈就臨到他，他就大發烈怒。

僕人中有一個人回應說：「看哪，我見過伯利恆人耶西的一個兒子，他善於彈琴，又是個有能力的勇士，是個戰士；他言談有智慧，身材健美，又有耶和華與他同在。」
