But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?

然上帝豈居於地乎。穹蒼不足以居爾、天上明宮亦不足以居爾、況我所建之殿乎。

然天主豈真居於地乎、天與天上之天、尚不足為主之居所、況我所建此殿乎、

“ But will God really dwell on earth? The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!

“ But will you really live on earth? After all, the heavens can’t hold you. In fact, even the highest heavens can’t hold you. So this temple I’ve built certainly can’t hold you!

“ But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you; how much less this house that I have built!

“ But will God really live on earth? Why, even the highest heavens cannot contain you. How much less this Temple I have built!

“ God does not really live on the earth! Look, if the sky and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this temple I have built!

But will God in very deed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens can’t contain you; how much less this house that I have built!

But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who[ am] I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?

Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.

Thus saith the LORD, The heaven[ is] my throne, and the earth[ is] my footstool: where[ is] the house that ye build unto me? and where[ is] the place of my rest?

Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,Heaven[ is] my throne, and earth[ is] my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what[ is] the place of my rest?

Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?If I ascend up into heaven, thou[ art] there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou[ art there].[ If] I take the wings of the morning,[ and] dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light[ are] both alike[ to thee].For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.I will praise thee; for I am fearfully[ and] wonderfully made: marvellous[ are] thy works; and[ that] my soul knoweth right well.My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret,[ and] curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all[ my members] were written,[ which] in continuance were fashioned, when[ as yet there was] none of them.

The LORD[ is] high above all nations,[ and] his glory above the heavens.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,( and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens[ is] the LORD’S thy God, the earth[ also], with all that therein[ is].

But will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!

I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago,( whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.

And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in[ them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
