I have provided a place there for the ark, in which is the covenant of the Lord that he made with our ancestors when he brought them out of Egypt.”

約櫃裏只有兩塊石版，就是以色列人出埃及地以後、永恆主同他們立約的時候、摩西在何烈山所安放在那裏的：除此以外、並無別物。

『你們要將「這律法」書放在永恆主你們的上帝的約櫃旁，好讓它在那裏做見證指責你們的不對。

所羅門王和那些會集到他那裏的以色列全會眾都同他在約櫃前宰獻牛羊為祭，多到不能計算、不能數點。祭司們將永恆主的約櫃抬到它的所在、就是內殿、至聖所、兩個基路伯的翅膀下面。

我上了山、要領受石版、就是永恆主同你們立約的約版；那時我在山上住了四十晝又四十夜；飯沒有喫，水也沒有喝。

摩西在那裏同永恆主在一起、四十晝又四十夜：飯沒有喫，水也沒有喝。他將這約的話、就是十段話、寫在兩塊版上。

過了四十晝又四十夜，永恆主把那兩塊石版、就是約版、交給了我。
