又拆毁了毘努伊勒的譙樓，殺死了那城裏的人。

那一天亞比米勒整天攻打那城，就把城攻取，殺了其中的人民；又把城拆毁，撒上了鹽。示劍譙樓的眾公民聽見了，就進伊勒比利土廟的一間地下室。有人告訴亞比米勒說示劍譙樓的眾公民都集合在一處呢。亞比米勒就上撒們山，他和跟隨他的人都上去；亞比米勒手裏拿着斧子，砍下一根樹枝，拿起來放在肩膀上，對跟隨他的人說：『你們看我作甚麼，你們也要趕快照樣作。』於是眾人也各砍下一根，跟着亞比米勒，把樹枝往地下室四圍堆，放火燒了地下室裏的人，以致示劍譙樓的人都死了，男女約有一千。

雅各便給那地方起名叫毘努伊勒，因為他說：『我面對面地見了上帝，我的性命還得保全。』雅各剛過了毘努伊勒，日剛剛出、來照他；他卻斜靠着大腿瘸着瘸着走了。

以色列王巴沙上來要攻擊猶大，修造了拉瑪，不給人出入到猶大王亞撒那裏。

羅波安往示劍去；因為以色列眾人都到了示劍、要立他作王。

羅波安住在耶路撒冷；他在猶大修造了城邑做堡障。他修造了伯利恆、以坦、提哥亞、伯夙、稜哥、亞杜蘭、迦特、瑪利沙、西弗、亞多萊音、拉吉、亞西加、瑣拉、亞雅崙、希伯崙：這些都是猶大和便雅憫的堡障城。羅波安又將這些堡障防守得很堅固，安置將官在裏面，貯藏着糧食、油、酒；又在各城各邑設備了大盾牌和槍，將城防守得極其堅固。這樣、猶大和便雅憫就都隸屬於他。

耶路巴力的兒子亞比米勒到了示劍去見他的眾母舅，對他們、和他母親父系家屬的全宗族講話說：

故此所羅門建造了基色，下伯和崙、巴拉、和他瑪、在猶大國中曠野裏；
