当时，约拿单和亚希玛斯躲在隐·罗结，不敢进城，怕被人看见。有一个婢女从城中出来给他们报信，他们便去通知大卫王。

有二百人应邀随同押沙龙一起从耶路撒冷去希伯仑，他们对内情一无所知。押沙龙献祭的时候，还派人去把大卫的谋士亚希多弗从他的故乡基罗请来。反叛的势力大增，拥护押沙龙的民众越来越多。

从亚割谷往北到底璧，到谷南亚都冥隘口对面的吉甲，经隐·示麦泉，直到隐·罗结；

耶和华憎恨恶人的祭物，悦纳正直人的祈祷。

两年后，押沙龙的工人在以法莲附近的巴力·夏琐剪羊毛，押沙龙邀请王的众子去那里。他去见王，说：“我的工人正在剪羊毛，请王和众臣仆跟我一起去吧。”王说：“我儿，我们不必都去打扰你。”押沙龙再三邀请，王还是推辞了，但他为押沙龙祝福。押沙龙说：“倘若王不去，求你叫我兄弟暗嫩去吧。”大卫说：“何必要他同去呢？”但押沙龙再三恳求，王就让暗嫩和其他王子一同去了。
