就後悔在地上造了人，心裡傷痛，

耶和華聽了摩西的話，就心生憐憫，不把所說的災禍降在百姓身上。

就在那天，迦得來見大衛，對他說：「你要去耶布斯人亞勞拿的麥場，在那裡為耶和華築一座壇。」

「猶大王希西迦執政期間，摩利沙人彌迦對猶大眾人預言說，『萬軍之耶和華說錫安必被夷為平地，耶路撒冷必淪為廢墟，聖殿山要成為一片荒林。』

所羅門在耶路撒冷的摩利亞山上動工興建耶和華的殿，殿址在耶布斯人阿珥楠的麥場，就是大衛指定的地方。耶和華曾在那裡向他父親大衛顯現。

「耶路撒冷啊！耶路撒冷啊！你常殺害先知，又用石頭打死派到你那裡的使者。我多次想要招聚你的兒女，像母雞將小雞聚集在翅膀底下，可是你們卻不肯。看啊！你們的家園將一片荒涼。

當我宣佈要剷除、推翻、毀滅哪一邦或哪一國的時候，如果他們悔過自新，我必施憐憫，取消我原本要降給他們的災禍。當我宣佈要建造、栽培哪一邦或哪一國的時候，如果他們做我視為惡的事，不聽從我的話，我必改變心意，取消我原本要賜給他們的福氣。

耶和華見他們因敵人的壓迫和苦待而哀號，就憐憫他們，使士師陸續興起，並與每位士師同在。士師在世之日，耶和華從仇敵手中拯救他們。

以色列人除掉了他們的外邦神像，轉而事奉耶和華。耶和華不忍再看以色列人受苦。

自己在曠野走了一天的路程，來到一棵羅騰樹下，坐下來禱告求死，說：「耶和華啊，我受夠了，求你取走我的性命吧，我不比我的祖先強。」

祂第三次禱告回來後，對他們說：「你們還在睡覺休息嗎？夠了，時候到了，看啊，人子要被出賣、交在罪人的手裡了。

請你們向耶和華禱告，好止住雷電和冰雹。我准許以色列人出去，你們不必再留在這裡了。」

但上帝充滿憐憫，赦免了他們的罪，沒有毀滅他們。祂多次收住怒氣，沒有完全發出祂的烈怒。

你為什麼奉耶和華的名預言這殿必像示羅一樣被毀，這城必要荒無人煙呢？」於是，他們在耶和華的殿裡把耶利米圍了起來。

他向耶和華禱告說：「耶和華啊，我在家鄉的時候豈不早就說過你會這樣做嗎？我知道你是一位有恩典、有憐憫的上帝，不輕易發怒，充滿慈愛，不忍心降災，所以我才急速逃往他施。

當天使準備伸手毀滅耶路撒冷的時候，耶和華心生憐憫，就對滅命天使說：「夠了，住手吧！」當時，耶和華的天使正站在耶布斯人亞勞拿的麥場上。

「『你們去我曾選為我名所在之地的示羅，看看我是怎樣因我以色列子民的罪而懲罰那地方的。

耶和華啊，我還要苦候多久呢？求你憐憫你的僕人。
