便雅憫人沒有趕走住在耶路撒冷的耶布斯人，所以耶布斯人與便雅憫人一同住在耶路撒冷，直到今日。

再上到欣嫩子谷，到達耶布斯南面的山坡，耶布斯就是耶路撒冷；又上到欣嫩子谷西邊的山頂，就是在利乏音的北端；

至於住在耶路撒冷的耶布斯人，猶大人不能把他們趕走；所以耶布斯人在耶路撒冷與猶大人同住，直到今日。

耶布斯的居民對大衛說：“你不能進這裡來。”可是大衛佔領了錫安的堡壘，錫安就是大衛城。

那人不願再住一夜，就帶著自己的妾和兩頭備好了的驢，起來走了，來到耶布斯對面；耶布斯就是耶路撒冷。他們走近耶布斯的時候，日頭快要落了；僕人對主人說：“來，讓我們轉到這耶布斯人的城去，好在那裡住宿。”主人對他說：“我們不可轉到這座不是以色列人居住的外族人的城裡去，我們過到基比亞去吧。”

我也曾說：“我要把你們從埃及的痛苦中領出來，到迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人之地去，就是到流奶與蜜之地去。”’

王和隨從他的人到了耶路撒冷，要攻打住在那地的耶布斯人。耶布斯人對大衛說：“你不能進這裡來，這些瞎眼的、跛腳的就能把你抵擋住。”他們心裡想：“大衛決不能進那裡去。”大衛卻攻取了錫安的保障，就是大衛的城。那一天大衛說：“攻打耶布斯人的，要把大衛心中恨惡的‘瞎子’和‘瘸子’丟進水溝裡。”因此有句俗語說：“瞎眼的或瘸腿的，都不能進殿裡。”後來大衛住在保障裡，稱保障為“大衛的城”。大衛又從米羅向裡面周圍築牆。大衛漸漸強大，因為耶和華萬軍的神與他同在。

洗拉、以利弗、耶布斯（耶布斯就是耶路撒冷）、基比亞、基列，共十四座城，還有屬於這些城的村莊。這就是便雅憫人按著家族所得的產業。
