  • Joshua 7:14 - In the morning you must approach in tribal order. The tribe the Lord selects must approach by clans. The clan the Lord selects must approach by families. The family the Lord selects must approach man by man.
  • Joshua 7:15 - The one caught with the riches must be burned up along with all who belong to him, because he violated the Lord’s covenant and did such a disgraceful thing in Israel.’”
  • Joshua 7:16 - Bright and early the next morning Joshua made Israel approach in tribal order and the tribe of Judah was selected.
  • Joshua 7:17 - He then made the clans of Judah approach and the clan of the Zerahites was selected. He made the clan of the Zerahites approach and Zabdi was selected.
  • Joshua 7:18 - He then made Zabdi’s family approach man by man and Achan son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, from the tribe of Judah, was selected.
  • Joshua 7:19 - So Joshua said to Achan, “My son, honor the Lord God of Israel and give him praise! Tell me what you did; don’t hide anything from me!”
  • Joshua 7:20 - Achan told Joshua, “It is true. I have sinned against the Lord God of Israel in this way:
  • Joshua 7:21 - I saw among the goods we seized a nice robe from Babylon, two hundred silver pieces, and a bar of gold weighing fifty shekels. I wanted them, so I took them. They are hidden in the ground right in the middle of my tent with the silver underneath.”
  • Joshua 7:22 - Joshua sent messengers who ran to the tent. The things were hidden right in his tent, with the silver underneath.
  • Joshua 7:23 - They took it all from the middle of the tent, brought it to Joshua and all the Israelites, and placed it before the Lord.
  • Joshua 7:24 - Then Joshua and all Israel took Achan, son of Zerah, along with the silver, the robe, the bar of gold, his sons, daughters, ox, donkey, sheep, tent, and all that belonged to him and brought them up to the Valley of Disaster.
  • Joshua 7:25 - Joshua said, “Why have you brought disaster on us? The Lord will bring disaster on you today!” All Israel stoned him to death. (They also stoned and burned the others.)
  • Joshua 7:26 - Then they erected over him a large pile of stones (it remains to this very day ) and the Lord’s anger subsided. So that place is called the Valley of Disaster to this very day.
  • Genesis 14:23 - that I will take nothing belonging to you, not even a thread or the strap of a sandal. That way you can never say, ‘It is I who made Abram rich.’

  • Job 27:16 - If he piles up silver like dust and stores up clothing like mounds of clay,
  • Job 27:17 - what he stores up a righteous man will wear, and an innocent man will inherit his silver.
  • Job 27:18 - The house he builds is as fragile as a moth’s cocoon, like a hut that a watchman has made.
  • Job 27:19 - He goes to bed wealthy, but will do so no more. When he opens his eyes, it is all gone.
  • Job 27:20 - Terrors overwhelm him like a flood; at night a whirlwind carries him off.
  • Job 27:21 - The east wind carries him away, and he is gone; it sweeps him out of his place.
  • Job 27:22 - It hurls itself against him without pity as he flees headlong from its power.
  • Job 27:23 - It claps its hands at him in derision and hisses him away from his place.

  • Deuteronomy 8:18 - You must remember the Lord your God, for he is the one who gives ability to get wealth; if you do this he will confirm his covenant that he made by oath to your ancestors, even as he has to this day.
  • Genesis 12:2 - Then I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you, and I will make your name great, so that you will exemplify divine blessing.
  • Psalms 37:22 - Surely those favored by the Lord will possess the land, but those rejected by him will be wiped out.

  • 1 Samuel 2:8 - He lifts the weak from the dust; he raises the poor from the ash heap to seat them with princes and to bestow on them an honored position. The foundations of the earth belong to the Lord, and he has placed the world on them.
  • Genesis 24:35 - “The Lord has richly blessed my master and he has become very wealthy. The Lord has given him sheep and cattle, silver and gold, male and female servants, and camels and donkeys.
  • Genesis 26:12 - When Isaac planted in that land, he reaped in the same year a hundred times what he had sown, because the Lord blessed him.
  • Psalms 107:38 - He blessed them so that they became very numerous. He would not allow their cattle to decrease in number.
