  • Exodus 16:31 - The Israelites called the food manna. It was white like coriander seed, and it tasted like honey wafers.
  • Psalms 68:6 - God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy. But he makes the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
  • Exodus 16:7 - In the morning you will see the glory of the Lord, because he has heard your complaints, which are against him, not against us. What have we done that you should complain about us?”
  • Exodus 16:8 - Then Moses added, “The Lord will give you meat to eat in the evening and bread to satisfy you in the morning, for he has heard all your complaints against him. What have we done? Yes, your complaints are against the Lord, not against us.”
  • Exodus 16:15 - The Israelites were puzzled when they saw it. “What is it?” they asked each other. They had no idea what it was. And Moses told them, “It is the food the Lord has given you to eat.

  • Exodus 15:24 - Then the people complained and turned against Moses. “What are we going to drink?” they demanded.
  • Numbers 17:12 - Then the people of Israel said to Moses, “Look, we are doomed! We are dead! We are ruined!
  • Numbers 14:1 - Then the whole community began weeping aloud, and they cried all night.
  • Numbers 14:2 - Their voices rose in a great chorus of protest against Moses and Aaron. “If only we had died in Egypt, or even here in the wilderness!” they complained.
  • Numbers 14:3 - “Why is the Lord taking us to this country only to have us die in battle? Our wives and our little ones will be carried off as plunder! Wouldn’t it be better for us to return to Egypt?”
  • Numbers 14:4 - Then they plotted among themselves, “Let’s choose a new leader and go back to Egypt!”
  • Exodus 16:2 - There, too, the whole community of Israel complained about Moses and Aaron.
  • Exodus 16:3 - “If only the Lord had killed us back in Egypt,” they moaned. “There we sat around pots filled with meat and ate all the bread we wanted. But now you have brought us into this wilderness to starve us all to death.”
  • Numbers 11:1 - Soon the people began to complain about their hardship, and the Lord heard everything they said. Then the Lord’s anger blazed against them, and he sent a fire to rage among them, and he destroyed some of the people in the outskirts of the camp.
  • Numbers 11:2 - Then the people screamed to Moses for help, and when he prayed to the Lord, the fire stopped.
  • Numbers 11:3 - After that, the area was known as Taberah (which means “the place of burning”), because fire from the Lord had burned among them there.
  • Numbers 11:4 - Then the foreign rabble who were traveling with the Israelites began to crave the good things of Egypt. And the people of Israel also began to complain. “Oh, for some meat!” they exclaimed.
  • Numbers 11:5 - “We remember the fish we used to eat for free in Egypt. And we had all the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, and garlic we wanted.
  • Numbers 11:6 - But now our appetites are gone. All we ever see is this manna!”
  • Numbers 11:7 - The manna looked like small coriander seeds, and it was pale yellow like gum resin.
  • Numbers 11:8 - The people would go out and gather it from the ground. They made flour by grinding it with hand mills or pounding it in mortars. Then they boiled it in a pot and made it into flat cakes. These cakes tasted like pastries baked with olive oil.
  • Numbers 11:9 - The manna came down on the camp with the dew during the night.
  • Exodus 14:11 - and they said to Moses, “Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness? Weren’t there enough graves for us in Egypt? What have you done to us? Why did you make us leave Egypt?
  • Numbers 16:41 - But the very next morning the whole community of Israel began muttering again against Moses and Aaron, saying, “You have killed the Lord’s people!”
  • Exodus 17:2 - So once more the people complained against Moses. “Give us water to drink!” they demanded. “Quiet!” Moses replied. “Why are you complaining against me? And why are you testing the Lord?”
  • Exodus 17:3 - But tormented by thirst, they continued to argue with Moses. “Why did you bring us out of Egypt? Are you trying to kill us, our children, and our livestock with thirst?”
  • Numbers 16:13 - Isn’t it enough that you brought us out of Egypt, a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us here in this wilderness, and that you now treat us like your subjects?
  • Numbers 16:14 - What’s more, you haven’t brought us into another land flowing with milk and honey. You haven’t given us a new homeland with fields and vineyards. Are you trying to fool these men? We will not come.”
  • Psalms 78:19 - They even spoke against God himself, saying, “God can’t give us food in the wilderness.
