2 Peter 1:16 - We told you about the time our Lord Jesus Christ came with power. But we didn’t make up clever stories when we told you about it. With our own eyes we saw him in all his majesty.
2 Peter 1:17 - God the Father gave him honor and glory. The voice of the Majestic Glory came to him. It said, “This is my Son, and I love him. I am very pleased with him.” ( Matthew 17:5 ; Mark 9:7 ; Luke 9:35 )
2 Peter 1:18 - We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven. We were with him on the sacred mountain.
Revelation 20:11 - I saw a great white throne. And I saw God sitting on it. When the earth and sky saw his face, they ran away. There was no place for them.
1 Kings 18:33 - He arranged the wood for the fire. He cut the bull into pieces. He placed the pieces on the wood. Then he said to some of the people, “Fill four large jars with water. Pour it on the offering and the wood.” So they did.
1 Kings 18:42 - So Ahab went off to eat and drink. But Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel. He bent down toward the ground. Then he put his face between his knees.
Philippians 2:6 - In his very nature he was God. Jesus was equal with God. But Jesus didn’t take advantage of that fact.
Philippians 2:7 - Instead, he made himself nothing. He did this by taking on the nature of a servant. He was made just like human beings.
Philippians 2:8 - He appeared as a man. He was humble and obeyed God completely. He did this even though it led to his death. Even worse, he died on a cross!
2 Corinthians 3:7 - The Law was written in letters on stone. Even though it was a way of serving God, it led to death. But even that way of serving God came with glory. The glory lasted for only a short time. Even so, the people of Israel couldn’t look at Moses’ face very long.
2 Corinthians 3:8 - Since all this is true, won’t the work of the Holy Spirit be even more glorious?
2 Corinthians 3:9 - The law that condemns people to death had glory. How much more glory does the work of the Spirit have! His work makes people right with God.
2 Corinthians 3:10 - The glory of the old covenant is nothing compared with the far greater glory of the new.
Philippians 3:21 - He has the power to bring everything under his control. By his power he will change our earthly bodies. They will become like his glorious body.
2 Corinthians 13:1 - This will be my third visit to you. Scripture says, “Every matter must be proved by the words of two or three witnesses.” ( Deuteronomy 19:15 )
Luke 6:12 - On one of those days, Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray. He spent the night praying to God.
John 1:14 - The Word became a human being. He made his home with us. We have seen his glory. It is the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father. And the Word was full of grace and truth.
Mark 16:12 - After that, Jesus appeared in a different form to two of them. This happened while they were walking out in the country.
Romans 12:2 - Don’t live the way this world lives. Let your way of thinking be completely changed. Then you will be able to test what God wants for you. And you will agree that what he wants is right. His plan is good and pleasing and perfect.
Matthew 17:11 - Jesus replied, “That’s right. Elijah is supposed to come and make all things new again.
Matthew 17:12 - But I tell you, Elijah has already come. People didn’t recognize him. They have done to him everything they wanted to do. In the same way, they are going to make the Son of Man suffer.”
Matthew 17:13 - Then the disciples understood that Jesus was talking to them about John the Baptist.
Matthew 14:13 - Jesus heard what had happened to John. He wanted to be alone. So he went in a boat to a quiet place. The crowds heard about this. They followed him on foot from the towns.
Isaiah 53:2 - His servant grew up like a tender young plant. He grew like a root coming up out of dry ground. He didn’t have any beauty or majesty that made us notice him. There wasn’t anything special about the way he looked that drew us to him.
Revelation 1:13 - In the middle of them was someone who looked “like a son of man.” ( Daniel 7:13 ) He was dressed in a long robe with a gold strip of cloth around his chest.
Revelation 1:14 - The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow. His eyes were like a blazing fire.
Revelation 1:15 - His feet were like bronze metal glowing in a furnace. His voice sounded like rushing waters.
Revelation 1:16 - He held seven stars in his right hand. Coming out of his mouth was a sharp sword with two edges. His face was like the sun shining in all its brightness.
Revelation 1:17 - When I saw him, I fell at his feet as if I were dead. Then he put his right hand on me and said, “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.
Isaiah 33:17 - People of Judah, you will see the king in all his glory and majesty. You will view his kingdom spreading far and wide.
Exodus 24:13 - Then Moses and Joshua, his helper, started out. Moses went up on the mountain of God.
Exodus 34:29 - Moses came down from Mount Sinai. He had the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands. His face was shining because he had spoken with the Lord. But he didn’t realize it.
Exodus 34:30 - Aaron and all the people of Israel saw Moses. His face was shining. So they were afraid to come near him.
Exodus 34:31 - But Moses called out to them. So Aaron and all the leaders of the community came to him. And Moses spoke to them.
Exodus 34:32 - After that, all the Israelites came near him. And he gave them all the commands the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai.
Exodus 34:33 - Moses finished speaking to them. Then he covered his face with a veil.
Exodus 34:34 - But when he would go to speak with the Lord, he would remove the veil. He would keep it off until he came out. Then he would tell the people what the Lord had commanded.
Exodus 34:35 - They would see that his face was shining. So Moses would cover his face with the veil again. He would keep it on until he went in again to speak with the Lord.
Mark 14:33 - He took Peter, James and John along with him. He began to be very upset and troubled.
Matthew 17:1 - After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John the brother of James with him. He led them up a high mountain. They were all alone.
Matthew 17:2 - There in front of them his appearance was changed. His face shone like the sun. His clothes became as white as the light.
Matthew 17:3 - Just then Moses and Elijah appeared in front of them. Moses and Elijah were talking with Jesus.
Matthew 17:4 - Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters. One will be for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
Matthew 17:5 - While Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them. A voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, and I love him. I am very pleased with him. Listen to him!”
Matthew 17:6 - When the disciples heard this, they were terrified. They fell with their faces to the ground.
Matthew 17:7 - But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.”
Matthew 17:8 - When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.
Mark 5:37 - He let only Peter, James, and John, the brother of James, follow him.
Luke 9:28 - About eight days after Jesus said this, he went up on a mountain to pray. He took Peter, John and James with him.
Luke 9:29 - As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed. His clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.
Luke 9:30 - Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in shining glory. Jesus and the two of them talked together.
Luke 9:31 - They talked about how he would be leaving them soon. This was going to happen in Jerusalem.
Luke 9:32 - Peter and his companions had been very sleepy. But then they became completely awake. They saw Jesus’ glory and the two men standing with him.
Luke 9:33 - As the men were leaving Jesus, Peter spoke up. “Master,” he said to him, “it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters. One will be for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” Peter didn’t really know what he was saying.
Luke 9:34 - While he was speaking, a cloud appeared and covered them. The disciples were afraid as they entered the cloud.
Luke 9:35 - A voice came from the cloud. It said, “This is my Son, and I have chosen him. Listen to him.”
Luke 9:36 - When the voice had spoken, they found that Jesus was alone. The disciples kept quiet about this. They didn’t tell anyone at that time what they had seen.
