  • Matthew 12:15 - Being aware of this, Jesus left there. Many followed Him, and He healed all of them [who were sick],
  • Matthew 10:23 - “When they persecute you in one city [because of your faith in Me], flee to the next; for I assure you and most solemnly say to you, you will not finish going through all the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
  • Matthew 15:32 - Then Jesus called His disciples to Him, and said, “I feel compassion for the crowd, because they have been with Me now three days and have nothing [left] to eat; and I do not want to send them away hungry, because they might faint [from exhaustion] on the way [home].”
  • Matthew 15:33 - The disciples said to Him, “Where are we to get enough bread in this isolated place to feed so large a crowd?”
  • Matthew 15:34 - And Jesus asked them, “How many loaves [of bread] do you have?” They replied, “Seven, and a few small fish.”
  • Matthew 15:35 - He directed the crowd to sit down on the ground,
  • Matthew 15:36 - and He took the seven loaves and the fish; and when He had given thanks, He broke them and started giving them to the disciples, and the disciples [gave them] to the people.
  • Matthew 15:37 - And they all ate and were satisfied, and they gathered up seven full baskets of the broken pieces that were left over.
  • Matthew 15:38 - [Among] those who ate were 4,000 men, not counting women and children.
  • John 6:1 - After this, Jesus went to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (or Sea of Tiberias).
  • John 6:2 - A large crowd was following Him because they had seen the signs (attesting miracles) which He continually performed on those who were sick.
  • John 6:3 - And Jesus went up on the mountainside and sat down there with His disciples.
  • John 6:4 - Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was approaching.
  • John 6:5 - Jesus looked up and saw that a large crowd was coming toward Him, and He said to Philip, “Where will we buy bread for these people to eat?”
  • John 6:6 - But He said this to test Philip, because He knew what He was about to do.
  • John 6:7 - Philip answered, “Two hundred denarii (200 days’ wages) worth of bread is not enough for each one to receive even a little.”
  • John 6:8 - One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him,
  • John 6:9 - “There is a little boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what are these for so many people?”
  • John 6:10 - Jesus said, “Have the people sit down [to eat].” Now [the ground] there was [covered with] an abundance of grass, so the men sat down, about 5,000 in number.
  • John 6:11 - Then Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks, He distributed them to those who were seated; the same also with the fish, as much as they wanted.
  • John 6:12 - When they had eaten enough, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the leftover pieces so that nothing will be lost.”
  • John 6:13 - So they gathered them up, and they filled twelve large baskets with pieces from the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten.
  • John 6:14 - When the people saw the sign (attesting miracle) that He had done, they began saying, “This is without a doubt the promised Prophet who is to come into the world!”
  • John 6:15 - Then Jesus, knowing that they were going to come and take Him by force to make Him king, withdrew again to the mountainside by Himself.
  • Mark 6:30 - The apostles [who had been sent out on a mission] gathered together with Jesus and told Him everything that they had done and taught.
  • Mark 6:31 - He said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a little while”—for there were many [people who were continually] coming and going, and they could not even find time to eat.
  • Mark 6:32 - And they went away by themselves in the boat to a secluded place.
  • Mark 6:33 - Many [people] saw them leaving, and recognized them and ran there together on foot from all the [surrounding] cities, and got there ahead of them.
  • Mark 6:34 - When Jesus went ashore, He saw a large crowd [waiting], and He was moved with compassion for them because they were like sheep without a shepherd [lacking guidance]; and He began to teach them many things.
  • Mark 6:35 - When the day was nearly gone, His disciples came to Him and said, “This is an isolated place, and it is already late;
  • Mark 6:36 - send the crowds away so that they may go into the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.”
  • Mark 6:37 - But He replied, “You give them something to eat!” And they asked Him, “Shall we go and buy 200 denarii worth of bread and give it to them to eat?”
  • Mark 6:38 - He said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go look!” And when they found out, they said, “Five [loaves], and two fish.”
  • Mark 6:39 - Then Jesus commanded them all to sit down by groups on the green grass.
  • Mark 6:40 - They sat down in groups of hundreds and of fifties [so that the crowd resembled an orderly arrangement of colorful garden plots].
  • Mark 6:41 - Taking the five loaves and two fish, He looked up to heaven and said a blessing [of praise and thanksgiving to the Father]. Then He broke the loaves and [repeatedly] gave them to the disciples to set before the people; and He divided up the two fish among them all.
  • Mark 6:42 - They all ate and were satisfied.
  • Mark 6:43 - And the disciples picked up twelve full baskets of the broken pieces [of the loaves], and of the fish.
  • Mark 6:44 - Those who ate the loaves were five thousand men [not counting the women and children].
  • Matthew 14:1 - At that time Herod [Antipas], the tetrarch [who governed a portion of Palestine including Galilee and Perea], heard the reports about Jesus,
  • Matthew 14:2 - and said to his attendants, “This is John the Baptist; he has been raised from the dead, and that is why the miraculous powers are at work in him.”
  • Luke 9:10 - When the apostles returned, they told Him all that they had done. He took them with Him and He privately withdrew [across the Jordan] to a city called Bethsaida.
  • Luke 9:11 - But when the crowds learned of it, they followed Him; and He welcomed them and He began talking to them about the kingdom of God, and healing those who needed to be healed.
  • Luke 9:12 - Now the day was ending, and the twelve [disciples] came and said to Him, “Send the crowd away, so that they may go into the surrounding villages and countryside and find lodging, and get provisions; because here we are in an isolated place.”
  • Luke 9:13 - But He said to them, “You give them something to eat.” They said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish—unless perhaps we go and buy food for all these people.”
  • Luke 9:14 - (For there were about 5,000 men.) And He said to His disciples, “Have them sit down to eat in groups of about fifty each.”
  • Luke 9:15 - They did so, and had them all sit down.
  • Luke 9:16 - Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and He looked up to heaven [and gave thanks] and blessed them, and broke them and kept giving them to the disciples to set before the crowd.
  • Luke 9:17 - They all ate and were [completely] satisfied; and the broken pieces which they had left over were [abundant and were] picked up—twelve baskets full.
