  • Luke 16:20 - And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores,
  • Luke 16:21 - and longing to be fed from the scraps which fell from the rich man’s table; not only that, the dogs also were coming and licking his sores.
  • Luke 16:22 - Now it happened that the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s arms; and the rich man also died and was buried.
  • Luke 16:23 - And in Hades he raised his eyes, being in torment, and *saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his arms.
  • Luke 16:24 - And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus, so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’
  • Luke 16:25 - But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony.
  • Jeremiah 5:4 - Then I said, “They are only the poor, They are foolish; For they do not know the way of the Lord Or the judgment of their God.
  • Jeremiah 5:5 - I will go to the great And speak to them, For they know the way of the Lord And the judgment of their God.” But together they too have broken the yoke And burst the restraints.
  • Jeremiah 5:6 - Therefore a lion from the forest will kill them, A wolf of the deserts will destroy them, A leopard is watching their cities. Everyone who goes out of them will be torn in pieces, Because their wrongdoings are many, Their apostasies are numerous.
  • Luke 18:23 - But when he had heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely wealthy.
  • Luke 18:24 - And Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!
  • Luke 18:25 - For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God!”
  • James 5:1 - Come now, you rich people, weep and howl for your miseries which are coming upon you.
  • James 5:2 - Your riches have rotted and your garments have become moth-eaten.
  • James 5:3 - Your gold and your silver have corroded, and their corrosion will serve as a testimony against you and will consume your flesh like fire. It is in the last days that you have stored up your treasure!
  • James 5:4 - Behold, the pay of the laborers who mowed your fields, and which has been withheld by you, cries out against you; and the outcry of those who did the harvesting has reached the ears of the Lord of armies.
  • James 5:5 - You have lived for pleasure on the earth and lived luxuriously; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter.
  • James 5:6 - You have condemned and put to death the righteous person; he offers you no resistance.
  • James 2:6 - But you have dishonored the poor man. Is it not the rich who oppress you and personally drag you into court?
  • 1 Timothy 6:17 - Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to set their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.
  • Psalms 49:6 - Those who trust in their wealth And boast in the abundance of their riches?
  • Psalms 49:7 - No one can by any means redeem another Or give God a ransom for him—
  • Psalms 49:16 - Do not be afraid when a person becomes rich, When the splendor of his house is increased;
  • Psalms 49:17 - For when he dies, he will take nothing with him; His wealth will not descend after him.
  • Psalms 49:18 - Though while he lives he congratulates himself— And though people praise you when you do well for yourself—
  • Psalms 49:19 - He will go to the generation of his fathers; They will never see the light.
  • Matthew 6:2 - “So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, so that they will be praised by people. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.
