  • Isaiah 58:7 - Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
  • Isaiah 58:10 - and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.
  • Deuteronomy 26:12 - When you have finished setting aside a tenth of all your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, you shall give it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied.
  • Deuteronomy 26:13 - Then say to the Lord your God: “I have removed from my house the sacred portion and have given it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, according to all you commanded. I have not turned aside from your commands nor have I forgotten any of them.
  • Job 31:16 - “If I have denied the desires of the poor or let the eyes of the widow grow weary,
  • Job 31:17 - if I have kept my bread to myself, not sharing it with the fatherless—
  • Job 31:18 - but from my youth I reared them as a father would, and from my birth I guided the widow—
  • Job 31:19 - if I have seen anyone perishing for lack of clothing, or the needy without garments,
  • Job 31:20 - and their hearts did not bless me for warming them with the fleece from my sheep,
  • Matthew 14:14 - When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
  • Matthew 14:15 - As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.”
  • Matthew 14:16 - Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
  • Matthew 14:17 - “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.
  • Matthew 14:18 - “Bring them here to me,” he said.
  • Matthew 14:19 - And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.
  • Matthew 14:20 - They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
  • Matthew 14:21 - The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.
  • Luke 14:21 - “The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’
