  • Genesis 18:22 - The two men turned and headed toward Sodom, but Abraham was still standing before the Lord.
  • Genesis 18:23 - Abraham approached and said, “Will you sweep away the godly along with the wicked?
  • Genesis 18:24 - What if there are fifty godly people in the city? Will you really wipe it out and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty godly people who are in it?
  • Genesis 18:25 - Far be it from you to do such a thing – to kill the godly with the wicked, treating the godly and the wicked alike! Far be it from you! Will not the judge of the whole earth do what is right?”
  • Genesis 18:26 - So the Lord replied, “If I find in the city of Sodom fifty godly people, I will spare the whole place for their sake.”
  • Genesis 18:27 - Then Abraham asked, “Since I have undertaken to speak to the Lord (although I am but dust and ashes),
  • Genesis 18:28 - what if there are five less than the fifty godly people? Will you destroy the whole city because five are lacking?” He replied, “I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there.”
  • Genesis 18:29 - Abraham spoke to him again, “What if forty are found there?” He replied, “I will not do it for the sake of the forty.”
  • Genesis 18:30 - Then Abraham said, “May the Lord not be angry so that I may speak! What if thirty are found there?” He replied, “I will not do it if I find thirty there.”
  • Genesis 18:31 - Abraham said, “Since I have undertaken to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty are found there?” He replied, “I will not destroy it for the sake of the twenty.”
  • Genesis 18:32 - Finally Abraham said, “May the Lord not be angry so that I may speak just once more. What if ten are found there?” He replied, “I will not destroy it for the sake of the ten.”
  • Jeremiah 14:7 - Then I said, “O Lord, intervene for the honor of your name even though our sins speak out against us. Indeed, we have turned away from you many times. We have sinned against you.
  • Jeremiah 14:8 - You have been the object of Israel’s hopes. You have saved them when they were in trouble. Why have you become like a resident foreigner in the land? Why have you become like a traveler who only stops in to spend the night?
  • Jeremiah 14:9 - Why should you be like someone who is helpless, like a champion who cannot save anyone? You are indeed with us, and we belong to you. Do not abandon us!”
  • Jeremiah 14:10 - Then the Lord spoke about these people. “They truly love to go astray. They cannot keep from running away from me. So I am not pleased with them. I will now call to mind the wrongs they have done and punish them for their sins.”
  • Jeremiah 14:11 - Then the Lord said to me, “Do not pray for good to come to these people!
  • John 10:32 - Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many good deeds from the Father. For which one of them are you going to stone me?”
  • Jeremiah 18:22 - Let cries of terror be heard in their houses when you send bands of raiders unexpectedly to plunder them. For they have virtually dug a pit to capture me and have hidden traps for me to step into.
  • Proverbs 26:27 - The one who digs a pit will fall into it; the one who rolls a stone – it will come back on him.
  • Ecclesiastes 10:8 - One who digs a pit may fall into it, and one who breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake.

  • Psalms 35:12 - They repay me evil for the good I have done; I am overwhelmed with sorrow.
  • Psalms 106:23 - He threatened to destroy them, but Moses, his chosen one, interceded with him and turned back his destructive anger.
  • Psalms 57:6 - They have prepared a net to trap me; I am discouraged. They have dug a pit for me. They will fall into it! (Selah)
  • Psalms 35:7 - I did not harm them, but they hid a net to catch me and dug a pit to trap me.
