  • Ezekiel 33:10 - “Son of man, speak to the Israelites. Tell them, ‘You are saying, “Our sins and the wrong things we have done weigh us down. We are wasting away because we have sinned so much. So how can we live?” ’
  • Daniel 9:7 - “Lord, you always do what is right. But we are covered with shame today. We are the people of Judah and Jerusalem. All of us are Israelites, no matter where we live. We are now living in many countries. You scattered us among the nations because we weren’t faithful to you.
  • Daniel 9:8 - Lord, we are covered with shame. So are our kings and princes, and our people of long ago. We have sinned against you.
  • Daniel 9:9 - You are the Lord our God. You show us your tender love. You forgive us. But we have turned against you.
  • Daniel 9:10 - You are the Lord our God. But we haven’t obeyed you. We haven’t kept the laws you gave us through your servants the prophets.
  • Daniel 9:11 - All the people of Israel have broken your law and turned away from it. They have refused to obey you. “Curses and warnings are written down in the Law of Moses. He was your servant. Those curses have been poured out on us. That’s because we have sinned against you.
  • Isaiah 64:6 - All of us have become like someone who is “unclean.” All the good things we do are like dirty rags to you. All of us are like leaves that have dried up. Our sins sweep us away like the wind.
  • Isaiah 64:7 - No one prays to you. No one asks you for help. You have turned your face away from us. You have let us feel the effects of our sins.
  • Nehemiah 9:33 - In spite of everything that has happened to us, you have been fair. You have been faithful in what you have done. But we did what was evil.
  • Nehemiah 9:34 - Our kings and leaders didn’t follow your law. Our priests and our people before us didn’t follow it either. They didn’t pay any attention to your commands or rules that you warned them to keep.
  • Psalm 143:2 - Don’t take me to court and judge me, because in your eyes no living person does what is right.
  • Lamentations 3:22 - The Lord loves us very much. So we haven’t been completely destroyed. His loving concern never fails.
  • Lamentations 3:23 - His great love is new every morning. Lord, how faithful you are!
  • Romans 10:3 - They didn’t know that God’s power makes people right with himself. They tried to get right with God in their own way. They didn’t do it in God’s way.
  • Romans 3:19 - What the law says, it says to those who are ruled by the law. Its purpose is to shut every mouth and make the whole world accountable to God.
  • John 8:21 - Once more Jesus said to them, “I am going away. You will look for me, and you will die in your sin. You can’t come where I am going.”
  • Zechariah 3:3 - Joshua stood in front of the angel. He was wearing clothes that were very dirty.
  • Zechariah 3:4 - The angel spoke to those who were standing near him. He said, “Take his dirty clothes off.” He said to Joshua, “I have taken your sin away. I will put fine clothes on you.”
  • John 8:24 - I told you that you would die in your sins. This will happen if you don’t believe that I am he. If you don’t believe, you will certainly die in your sins.”
  • Psalm 130:3 - Lord, suppose you kept a close watch on sins. Lord, who then wouldn’t be found guilty?
