  • Nehemiah 10:29 - joined their leaders and bound themselves with an oath. They swore a curse on themselves if they failed to obey the Law of God as issued by his servant Moses. They solemnly promised to carefully follow all the commands, regulations, and decrees of the Lord our Lord:
  • Romans 13:1 - Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.
  • Romans 13:2 - So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished.
  • Romans 13:3 - For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Would you like to live without fear of the authorities? Do what is right, and they will honor you.
  • Romans 13:4 - The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. But if you are doing wrong, of course you should be afraid, for they have the power to punish you. They are God’s servants, sent for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong.
  • Romans 13:5 - So you must submit to them, not only to avoid punishment, but also to keep a clear conscience.
  • Romans 13:6 - Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do.
  • Nehemiah 9:38 - The people responded, “In view of all this, we are making a solemn promise and putting it in writing. On this sealed document are the names of our leaders and Levites and priests.”
  • 1 Chronicles 11:3 - So there at Hebron, David made a covenant before the Lord with all the elders of Israel. And they anointed him king of Israel, just as the Lord had promised through Samuel.
  • 2 Chronicles 29:10 - But now I will make a covenant with the Lord, the God of Israel, so that his fierce anger will turn away from us.
  • 1 Samuel 10:25 - Then Samuel told the people what the rights and duties of a king were. He wrote them down on a scroll and placed it before the Lord. Then Samuel sent the people home again.
  • 2 Chronicles 15:12 - Then they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their ancestors, with all their heart and soul.
  • 2 Chronicles 15:13 - They agreed that anyone who refused to seek the Lord, the God of Israel, would be put to death—whether young or old, man or woman.
  • 2 Chronicles 15:14 - They shouted out their oath of loyalty to the Lord with trumpets blaring and rams’ horns sounding.
  • Ezra 10:3 - Let us now make a covenant with our God to divorce our pagan wives and to send them away with their children. We will follow the advice given by you and by the others who respect the commands of our God. Let it be done according to the Law of God.
  • Joshua 24:25 - So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day at Shechem, committing them to follow the decrees and regulations of the Lord.
  • 2 Chronicles 34:31 - The king took his place of authority beside the pillar and renewed the covenant in the Lord’s presence. He pledged to obey the Lord by keeping all his commands, laws, and decrees with all his heart and soul. He promised to obey all the terms of the covenant that were written in the scroll.
  • 2 Samuel 5:3 - So there at Hebron, King David made a covenant before the Lord with all the elders of Israel. And they anointed him king of Israel.
