Praising God’s Greatness

A Davidic hymn.

1I The lines of this poem form an acrostic. exalt You, my God the King,

and praise Your name forever and ever. Ps 30:1; 34:1; 99:5,9

2I will praise You every day;

I will honor Your name forever and ever. Ps 146:2

3Yahweh is great and is highly praised; Ps 48:1; 147:5

His greatness is unsearchable. Jb 5:9; 9:10; Is 40:28

4One generation will declare Your works to the next

and will proclaim Your mighty acts. Ps 22:30-31

5I LXX, Syr read They will speak of Your splendor and glorious majesty

and LXX, Syr read and they will tell of Your wonderful works. Ps 119:27

6They will proclaim the power of Your awe-inspiring acts,

and I will declare Your greatness. Alt Hb tradition, Jer read great deeds Dt 10:21; Ps 106:2

7They will give a testimony of Your great goodness

and will joyfully sing of Your righteousness. Is 63:7

8The Lord is gracious and compassionate,

slow to anger and great in faithful love. Ex 34:6; Ps 86:5,15; 103:8

9The Lord is good to everyone; Ac 14:17

His compassion rests on all He has made. Ps 100:5

10All You have made will thank You, Lord;

the Lit Your godly will praise You. Ps 19:1; 103:22

11They will speak of the glory of Your kingdom

and will declare Your might, Jr 14:21

12informing all people of Your mighty acts

and of the glorious splendor of Your LXX, Syr, Jer; MT reads His kingdom. Ps 105:1; 145:5

13Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom;

Your rule is for all generations. Ps 10:16; 2Pt 1:11

The Lord is faithful in all His words

14The Lord helps all who fall;

He raises up all who are oppressed. Lit bowed down Ps 37:24; 146:8

15All eyes look to You,

and You give them their food at the proper time. Ps 104:27; 136:25

16You open Your hand

and satisfy the desire of every living thing. Ps 104:28

17The Lord is righteous in all His ways

and gracious in all His acts. Ps 116:5

18The Lord is near all who call out to Him,

all who call out to Him with integrity. Dt 4:7; Ps 34:18; Jn 4:23-24

19He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him;

He hears their cry for help and saves them. Ps 10:17; 21:2; 37:4

20The Lord guards all those who love Him,

but He destroys all the wicked. Ps 31:23; 97:10

21My mouth will declare Yahweh’s praise;

let every living thing

praise His holy name forever and ever. Ps 65:2; 150:6
