The Lord has taken away your punishment, he has turned back your enemy. The Lord, the King of Israel, is with you; never again will you fear any harm.

The Lord has stopped punishing you. He has made your enemies turn away from you. The Lord is the King of Israel. He is with you. You will never again be afraid that others will harm you.

The Lord has taken away the judgments against you; he has cleared away your enemies. The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst; you shall never again fear evil.

For the Lord will remove his hand of judgment and will disperse the armies of your enemy. And the Lord himself, the King of Israel, will live among you! At last your troubles will be over, and you will never again fear disaster.

Your Lord Yahweh, your God who pleads the cause of his people, says,“ Behold, I have taken out of your hand the cup of staggering, even the bowl of the cup of my wrath. You will not drink it any more.

For Yahweh of Armies says:‘ For honor he has sent me to the nations which plundered you; for he who touches you touches the apple of his eye.For, behold, I will shake my hand over them, and they will be a plunder to those who served them; and you will know that Yahweh of Armies has sent me.

I won’t hide my face from them any more; for I have poured out my Spirit on the house of Israel,’ says the Lord Yahweh.”

“ I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them back; for I have mercy on them; and they will be as though I had not cast them off: for I am Yahweh their God, and I will hear them.Ephraim will be like a mighty man, and their heart will rejoice as through wine; yes, their children will see it, and rejoice. Their heart will be glad in Yahweh.

It will happen in that day, that I will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all the peoples. All who burden themselves with it will be severely wounded, and all the nations of the earth will be gathered together against it.

The nations will see and be ashamed of all their might. They will lay their hand on their mouth. Their ears will be deaf.They will lick the dust like a serpent. Like crawling things of the earth they shall come trembling out of their dens. They will come with fear to Yahweh our God, and will be afraid because of you.Who is a God like you, who pardons iniquity, and passes over the disobedience of the remnant of his heritage? He doesn’t retain his anger forever, because he delights in loving kindness.He will again have compassion on us. He will tread our iniquities under foot; and you will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.You will give truth to Jacob, and mercy to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.

For Yahweh is our judge. Yahweh is our lawgiver. Yahweh is our king. He will save us.

It shall come to pass that, as you were a curse among the nations, house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you, and you shall be a blessing. Don’t be afraid. Let your hands be strong.”For Yahweh of Armies says:“ As I thought to do evil to you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath,” says Yahweh of Armies,“ and I didn’t repent;so again I have thought in these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Don’t be afraid.

I will plant them on their land, and they will no more be plucked up out of their land which I have given them,” says Yahweh your God.

You have taken away all your wrath. You have turned from the fierceness of your anger.

Nathanael answered him,“ Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are King of Israel!”

But Judah will be inhabited forever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.I will cleanse their blood, that I have not cleansed: for Yahweh dwells in Zion.”

Men will dwell therein, and there will be no more curse; but Jerusalem will dwell safely.

Yahweh, within her, is righteous. He will do no wrong. Every morning he brings his justice to light. He doesn’t fail, but the unjust know no shame.

“‘“ My servant David will be king over them. They all will have one shepherd. They will also walk in my ordinances, and observe my statutes, and do them.They will dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob my servant, in which your fathers lived. They will dwell therein, they, and their children, and their children’s children, forever. David my servant will be their prince forever.Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them. It will be an everlasting covenant with them. I will place them, multiply them, and will set my sanctuary among them forever more.My tent also will be with them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.The nations will know that I am Yahweh who sanctifies Israel, when my sanctuary is among them forever more.”’”

I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying,“ Now the salvation, the power, and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ has come; for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night.

She conceived, bore a son, and said,“ God has taken away my reproach.”

You will be established in righteousness. You will be far from oppression, for you will not be afraid, and far from terror, for it shall not come near you.

“ So you will know that I am Yahweh, your God, dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain. Then Jerusalem will be holy, and no strangers will pass through her any more.

Because you have plundered many nations, all the remnant of the peoples will plunder you, because of men’s blood, and for the violence done to the land, to the city and to all who dwell in it.

“ Comfort, comfort my people,” says your God.“ Speak comfortably to Jerusalem; and call out to her that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received of Yahweh’s hand double for all her sins.”

The word that Yahweh spoke concerning Babylon, concerning the land of the Chaldeans, by Jeremiah the prophet.“ Declare among the nations and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and don’t conceal: say,‘ Babylon has been taken, Bel is disappointed, Merodach is dismayed! Her images are disappointed. Her idols are dismayed.’For a nation comes up out of the north against her, which will make her land desolate, and no one will dwell in it. They have fled. They are gone, both man and animal.“ In those days, and in that time,” says Yahweh,“ the children of Israel will come, they and the children of Judah together; they will go on their way weeping, and will seek Yahweh their God.They will inquire concerning Zion with their faces turned toward it, saying,‘ Come, and join yourselves to Yahweh in an everlasting covenant that will not be forgotten.’My people have been lost sheep. Their shepherds have caused them to go astray. They have turned them away on the mountains. They have gone from mountain to hill. They have forgotten their resting place.All who found them have devoured them. Their adversaries said,‘ We are not guilty, because they have sinned against Yahweh, the habitation of righteousness, even Yahweh, the hope of their fathers.’“ Flee out of the middle of Babylon! Go out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the male goats before the flocks.For, behold, I will stir up and cause to come up against Babylon a company of great nations from the north country; and they will set themselves in array against her. She will be taken from there. Their arrows will be as of an expert mighty man. None of them will return in vain.Chaldea will be a prey. All who prey on her will be satisfied,” says Yahweh.“ Because you are glad, because you rejoice, O you who plunder my heritage, because you are wanton as a heifer that treads out the grain, and neigh as strong horses;your mother will be utterly disappointed. She who bore you will be confounded. Behold, she will be the least of the nations, a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.Because of Yahweh’s wrath she won’t be inhabited, but she will be wholly desolate. Everyone who goes by Babylon will be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.Set yourselves in array against Babylon all around, all you who bend the bow; shoot at her. Spare no arrows; for she has sinned against Yahweh.Shout against her all around. She has submitted herself. Her bulwarks have fallen. Her walls have been thrown down, for it is the vengeance of Yahweh. Take vengeance on her. As she has done, do to her.Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him who handles the sickle in the time of harvest. For fear of the oppressing sword, they will each return to their own people, and they will each flee to their own land.“ Israel is a hunted sheep. The lions have driven him away. First, the king of Assyria devoured him, and now at last Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has broken his bones.”Therefore Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says:“ Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.I will bring Israel again to his pasture, and he will feed on Carmel and Bashan. His soul will be satisfied on the hills of Ephraim and in Gilead.In those days, and in that time,” says Yahweh,“ the iniquity of Israel will be sought for, and there will be none; also the sins of Judah, and they won’t be found; for I will pardon them whom I leave as a remnant.“ Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod. Kill and utterly destroy after them,” says Yahweh,“ and do according to all that I have commanded you.A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction.How the hammer of the whole earth is cut apart and broken! How Babylon has become a desolation among the nations!I have laid a snare for you, and you are also taken, Babylon, and you weren’t aware. You are found, and also caught, because you have fought against Yahweh.Yahweh has opened his armory, and has brought out the weapons of his indignation; for the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, has a work to do in the land of the Chaldeans.Come against her from the farthest border. Open her storehouses. Cast her up as heaps. Destroy her utterly. Let nothing of her be left.Kill all her bulls. Let them go down to the slaughter. Woe to them! For their day has come, the time of their visitation.Listen to those who flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of Yahweh our God, the vengeance of his temple.“ Call together the archers against Babylon, all those who bend the bow. Encamp against her all around. Let none of it escape. Pay her back according to her work. According to all that she has done, do to her; for she has been proud against Yahweh, against the Holy One of Israel.Therefore her young men will fall in her streets. All her men of war will be brought to silence in that day,” says Yahweh.“ Behold, I am against you, you proud one,” says the Lord, Yahweh of Armies;“ for your day has come, the time that I will visit you.The proud one will stumble and fall, and no one will raise him up. I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it will devour all who are around him.”Yahweh of Armies says:“ The children of Israel and the children of Judah are oppressed together. All who took them captive hold them fast. They refuse to let them go.Their Redeemer is strong: Yahweh of Armies is his name. He will thoroughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the earth, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.“ A sword is on the Chaldeans,” says Yahweh,“ and on the inhabitants of Babylon, on her princes, and on her wise men.A sword is on the boasters, and they will become fools. A sword is on her mighty men, and they will be dismayed.A sword is on their horses, on their chariots, and on all the mixed people who are in the middle of her; and they will become as women. A sword is on her treasures, and they will be robbed.A drought is on her waters, and they will be dried up; for it is a land of engraved images, and they are mad over idols.Therefore the wild animals of the desert with the wolves will dwell there. The ostriches will dwell therein; and it will be inhabited no more forever; neither will it be lived in from generation to generation.As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and its neighbor cities,” says Yahweh,“ so no man will dwell there, neither will any son of man live therein.“ Behold, a people comes from the north; and a great nation and many kings will be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.They take up bow and spear. They are cruel, and have no mercy. Their voice roars like the sea. They ride on horses, everyone set in array, as a man to the battle, against you, daughter of Babylon.The king of Babylon has heard the news of them, and his hands become feeble: anguish has taken hold of him, pains as of a woman in labor.Behold, the enemy will come up like a lion from the pride of the Jordan against the strong habitation; for I will suddenly make them run away from it. Whoever is chosen, I will appoint him over it; for who is like me? Who will appoint me a time? Who is the shepherd who can stand before me?”Therefore hear the counsel of Yahweh, that he has taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he has purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely they will drag them away, even the little ones of the flock. Surely he will make their habitation desolate over them.At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth trembles; and the cry is heard among the nations.

Yahweh, your God, is among you, a mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will calm you in his love. He will rejoice over you with singing.

I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and delight in my people; and the voice of weeping and the voice of crying will be heard in her no more.

Then Yahweh’s ransomed ones will return, and come with singing to Zion; and everlasting joy will be on their heads. They will obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.”

Who could bring a charge against God’s chosen ones? It is God who justifies.Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

Violence shall no more be heard in your land, nor desolation or destruction within your borders; but you will call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise.

For the violence done to Lebanon will overwhelm you, and the destruction of the animals, which made them afraid; because of men’s blood, and for the violence done to the land, to every city and to those who dwell in them.

Then my enemy will see it, and shame will cover her who said to me, where is Yahweh your God? Then my enemy will see me and will cover her shame. Now she will be trodden down like the mire of the streets.

“ Don’t be afraid, daughter of Zion. Behold, your King comes, sitting on a donkey’s colt.”

He has on his garment and on his thigh a name written,“ KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

I heard a loud voice out of heaven saying,“ Behold, God’s dwelling is with people, and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The first things have passed away.”

Pilate wrote a title also, and put it on the cross. There was written,“ JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

Therefore they are before the throne of God, they serve him day and night in his temple. He who sits on the throne will spread his tabernacle over them.

Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion! Shout, daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King comes to you! He is righteous, and having salvation; lowly, and riding on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw.Set up a banner on the bare mountain! Lift up your voice to them! Wave your hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.I have commanded my consecrated ones; yes, I have called my mighty men for my anger, even my proudly exulting ones.The noise of a multitude is in the mountains, as of a great people; the noise of an uproar of the kingdoms of the nations gathered together! Yahweh of Armies is mustering the army for the battle.They come from a far country, from the uttermost part of heaven, even Yahweh, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.Wail, for Yahweh’s day is at hand! It will come as destruction from the Almighty.Therefore all hands will be feeble, and everyone’s heart will melt.They will be dismayed. Pangs and sorrows will seize them. They will be in pain like a woman in labor. They will look in amazement one at another. Their faces will be faces of flame.Behold, the day of Yahweh comes, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger; to make the land a desolation, and to destroy its sinners out of it.For the stars of the sky and its constellations will not give their light. The sun will be darkened in its going out, and the moon will not cause its light to shine.I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity. I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease, and will humble the arrogance of the terrible.I will make people more rare than fine gold, even a person than the pure gold of Ophir.Therefore I will make the heavens tremble, and the earth will be shaken out of its place in Yahweh of Armies’ wrath, and in the day of his fierce anger.It will happen that like a hunted gazelle, and like sheep that no one gathers, they will each turn to their own people, and will each flee to their own land.

He has swallowed up death forever! The Lord Yahweh will wipe away tears from off all faces. He will take the reproach of his people away from off all the earth, for Yahweh has spoken it.

“ It shall be eighteen thousand reeds around: and the name of the city from that day shall be,‘ Yahweh is there.’

So the angel who talked with me said to me,“ Proclaim, saying,‘ Yahweh of Armies says:“ I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.I am very angry with the nations that are at ease; for I was but a little displeased, but they added to the calamity.”Therefore Yahweh says:“ I have returned to Jerusalem with mercy. My house shall be built in it,” says Yahweh of Armies,“ and a line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem.”’
