我耶和華不悅斯民、忿怒震烈、必降以災、

惟爾不知羞不知羞或作不見悅之民、當聚集自察、

Bunch yourselves together like straw, you undesirable nation,

Judah gathered themselves together to seek help from Yahweh. They came out of all the cities of Judah to seek Yahweh.

Sanctify a fast. Call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders, and all the inhabitants of the land, to the house of Yahweh, your God, and cry to Yahweh.

All the people gathered themselves together as one man into the wide place that was in front of the water gate; and they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which Yahweh had commanded to Israel.

“ Go, gather together all the Jews who are present in Susa, and fast for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day. I and my maidens will also fast the same way. Then I will go in to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish.”

He may turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meal offering and a drink offering to Yahweh, your God.Blow the trumpet in Zion! Sanctify a fast. Call a solemn assembly.Gather the people. Sanctify the assembly. Assemble the elders. Gather the children, and those who nurse from breasts. Let the bridegroom go out of his room, and the bride out of her room.Let the priests, the ministers of Yahweh, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say,“ Spare your people, Yahweh, and don’t give your heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples,‘ Where is their God?’”Then Yahweh was jealous for his land, And had pity on his people.

Hear Yahweh’s word, you rulers of Sodom! Listen to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah!“ What are the multitude of your sacrifices to me?”, says Yahweh.“ I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed animals. I don’t delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of male goats.When you come to appear before me, who has required this at your hand, to trample my courts?Bring no more vain offerings. Incense is an abomination to me. New moons, Sabbaths, and convocations: I can’t stand evil assemblies.My soul hates your New Moons and your appointed feasts. They are a burden to me. I am weary of bearing them.When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you. Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.

“ I have forsaken my house. I have cast off my heritage. I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies.My heritage has become to me as a lion in the forest. She has uttered her voice against me. Therefore I have hated her.Is my heritage to me as a speckled bird of prey? Are the birds of prey against her all around? Go, assemble all the animals of the field. Bring them to devour.

Yes, in the way of your judgments, Yahweh, we have waited for you. Your name and your renown are the desire of our soul.With my soul I have desired you in the night. Yes, with my spirit within me I will seek you earnestly; for when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

Ah sinful nation, a people loaded with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, children who deal corruptly! They have forsaken Yahweh. They have despised the Holy One of Israel. They are estranged and backward.Why should you be beaten more, that you revolt more and more? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.From the sole of the foot even to the head there is no soundness in it: wounds, welts, and open sores. They haven’t been closed, bandaged, or soothed with oil.
