by asking the priests of the house of the Lord Almighty and the prophets,“ Should I mourn and fast in the fifth month, as I have done for so many years?”

They went to the prophets and priests at the Lord’ s temple. They asked them,“ Should we mourn and go without eating in the fifth month? That’s what we’ve done for many years.”

saying to the priests of the house of the Lord of hosts and the prophets,“ Should I weep and abstain in the fifth month, as I have done for so many years?”

They were to ask this question of the prophets and the priests at the Temple of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies:“ Should we continue to mourn and fast each summer on the anniversary of the Temple’s destruction, as we have done for so many years?”

by asking the priests who were at the house of the LORD of Armies as well as the prophets,“ Should we mourn and fast in the fifth month as we have done these many years?”

speaking to the priests who belong to the house of the Lord of armies, and to the prophets, saying,“ Shall I weep in the fifth month and fast, as I have done these many years?”

and to ask the priests who were in the house of the Lord of hosts, and the prophets, saying,“ Should I weep in the fifth month and fast as I have done for so many years?”

and to speak unto the priests of the house of Jehovah of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?

“万军之耶和华说，‘四月、五月、七月、十月的禁食必成为犹大家欢喜快乐的日子和幸福的节期。因此，你们要喜爱真理与和平。

祭司的嘴唇应持守知识，人民应从他口中寻求训诲，因为他是万军之耶和华的使者。

你们亲近上帝，上帝就必亲近你们。有罪的人啊，洗净你们的手吧！三心二意的人啊，洁净你们的心吧！你们要悲伤、忧愁、痛哭，转欢笑为悲哀，变欢乐为愁苦。你们要在主面前谦卑，祂必擢升你们。

夫妻不可亏负彼此的需要，除非双方同意，才可以暂时分房，以便专心祈祷。以后，二人仍要恢复正常的夫妻生活，免得撒旦趁你们情不自禁的时候引诱你们。

交给当值的利未祭司和审判官去审理。你们必须执行他们在耶和华所选择的地方宣告的判决，你们要谨慎遵行他们的一切指示。他们教导你们律法，宣布判决后，你们必须完全执行，丝毫不可偏离。

“你要对境内的民众和祭司说，‘七十年来，你们在五月和七月禁食、哀伤，难道真的是为了我吗？

境内家家户户都必哀哭。大卫家的男子在一处，女子在一处；拿单家的男子在一处，女子在一处；利未家的男子在一处，女子在一处；示每家的男子在一处，女子在一处。其余各家也都哀哭，男女分开。

那日，万军之耶和华呼召你们哭泣哀号，剃光头发，身披麻衣。但你们还是欢喜作乐，宰牛杀羊，喝酒吃肉，说：“让我们吃喝吧！因为明天我们就死了。”

全体民众听到律法书上的话都哭了。尼希米省长、律法教师以斯拉祭司和教导民众的利未人对他们说：“今天是你们上帝耶和华的圣日，不要悲哀、哭泣。”尼希米又说：“你们去吃肥美的肉，喝甘甜的酒，并分些给一无所有的人，因为今天是我们主的圣日。不要悲伤，因为从耶和华而来的喜乐就是你们的力量。”利未人使全体民众安静，说：“请安静，因为今天是圣日。不要悲伤。”

“万军之耶和华说，‘你去问祭司，

耶稣对他们说：“新郎和宾客还在一起的时候，宾客怎能悲伤呢？但有一天新郎将被带走，那时他们就要禁食了。

哭泣有时，欢笑有时；哀伤有时，雀跃有时；

他们要教导我的子民辨别圣与俗，洁净与不洁净。他们要审理诉讼之事，按我的律例断是非。他们必须按我定的律例和法度遵守一切节期，守安息日为圣日。

这月二十四日，以色列人聚集禁食。他们身披麻衣，头撒尘土。以色列人与其他外族人隔离，站着承认自己的罪恶和祖先的过犯。他们站在自己的地方，宣读他们上帝耶和华的律法书，长达三个小时。他们又用了三个小时认罪，敬拜他们的上帝耶和华。

他们把你的典章传授给雅各，把你的律法传授给以色列；他们要把香献在你面前，把全牲燔祭献在你的坛上。

我的子民因不认识我而遭毁灭。因为你们拒绝认识我，我也要拒绝让你们做我的祭司；因为你们忘记我的律法，我也要忘记你们的儿女。
