he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,

He saved us. It wasn’t because of the good things we had done. It was because of his mercy. He saved us by washing away our sins. We were born again. The Holy Spirit gave us new life.

This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you— not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well- pleasing, and perfect will of God.

that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,

But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us,

Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me.

Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need.

He has given help to Israel, his servant, that he might remember mercy,

Jesus answered him,“ Most certainly, I tell you, unless one is born anew, he can’t see God’s Kingdom.”Nicodemus said to him,“ How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?”Jesus answered,“ Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born of water and spirit, he can’t enter into God’s Kingdom.

We maintain therefore that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.

Don’t enter into judgment with your servant, for in your sight no man living is righteous.

because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the dawn from on high will visit us,

But you, Lord, are a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth.

How then can man be just with God? Or how can he who is born of a woman be clean?

Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his offspring. He doesn’t say,“ To descendants”, as of many, but as of one,“ To your offspring”, which is Christ.Now I say this: A covenant confirmed beforehand by God in Christ, the law, which came four hundred thirty years after, does not annul, so as to make the promise of no effect.For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no more of promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by promise.Then why is there the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the offspring should come to whom the promise has been made. It was ordained through angels by the hand of a mediator.Now a mediator is not between one, but God is one.Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could make alive, most certainly righteousness would have been of the law.

and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight; for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.

And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.

For being not yet born, neither having done anything good or bad, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him who calls,

Who is a God like you, who pardons iniquity, and passes over the disobedience of the remnant of his heritage? He doesn’t retain his anger forever, because he delights in loving kindness.

yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law, because no flesh will be justified by the works of the law.

to the praise of the glory of his grace, by which he freely gave us favor in the Beloved,in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

to show mercy toward our fathers, to remember his holy covenant,

His mercy is for generations of generations on those who fear him.

and have put on the new man, who is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator,

But to him who doesn’t work, but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.

In the past, you were not a people, but now are God’s people, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

I will declare your righteousness; and as for your works, they will not benefit you.

What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who didn’t follow after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith;

So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who has mercy.

But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love toward mankind appeared,

and then fell away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance; seeing they crucify the Son of God for themselves again, and put him to open shame.

Also to you, Lord, belongs loving kindness, for you reward every man according to his work.

He answered,“ You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”He said to him,“ You have answered correctly. Do this, and you will live.”But he, desiring to justify himself, asked Jesus,“ Who is my neighbor?”

For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, abundant in loving kindness to all those who call on you.

Israel, hope in Yahweh, for there is loving kindness with Yahweh. Abundant redemption is with him.

What is man, that he should be clean? What is he who is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

Though I am righteous, my own mouth will condemn me. Though I am blameless, it will prove me perverse.
