蓋吾人從前亦昏昧悖逆、徬徨岐途、縱情恣慾、險狠媢嫉；己實可惡、而轉以惡人。

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.

At one time we too acted like fools. We didn’t obey God. We were tricked. We were controlled by all kinds of desires and pleasures. We were full of evil. We wanted what belongs to others. People hated us, and we hated one another.

For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.

Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other.

For we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved by various passions and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, detesting one another.

Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with men,nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.And such were some of you: but ye were washed, but ye were sanctified, but ye were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God.

wherein ye also once walked, when ye lived in these things;

But now being made free from sin and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto sanctification, and the end eternal life.

But thanks be to God, that, whereas ye were servants of sin, ye became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching whereunto ye were delivered;

as children of obedience, not fashioning yourselves according to your former lusts in the time of your ignorance:

Forasmuch then as Christ suffered in the flesh, arm ye yourselves also with the same mind; for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;that ye no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.For the time past may suffice to have wrought the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, winebibbings, revellings, carousings, and abominable idolatries:

being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity; whisperers,backbiters, hateful to God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,without understanding, covenant- breakers, without natural affection, unmerciful:

For men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, railers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, without self- control, fierce, no lovers of good,

Leave off, ye simple ones, and live; And walk in the way of understanding.

How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? And scoffers delight them in scoffing, And fools hate knowledge?Turn you at my reproof: Behold, I will pour out my spirit upon you; I will make known my words unto you.

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Every one that committeth sin is the bondservant of sin.

He feedeth on ashes; a deceived heart hath turned him aside; and he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

And he cried with a mighty voice, saying, Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, and is become a habitation of demons, and a hold of every unclean spirit, and a hold of every unclean and hateful bird.

What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we before laid to the charge both of Jews and Greeks, that they are all under sin;as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one;There is none that understandeth, There is none that seeketh after God;They have all turned aside, they are together become unprofitable; There is none that doeth good, no, not so much as one:Their throat is an open sepulchre; With their tongues they have used deceit: The poison of asps is under their lips:Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:Their feet are swift to shed blood;Destruction and misery are in their ways;And the way of peace have they not known:There is no fear of God before their eyes.Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it speaketh to them that are under the law; that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God:because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified in his sight; for through the law cometh the knowledge of sin.

O ye simple, understand prudence; And, ye fools, be of an understanding heart.

But Saul, yet breathing threatening and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,and asked of him letters to Damascus unto the synagogues, that if he found any that were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.And as he journeyed, it came to pass that he drew nigh unto Damascus: and suddenly there shone round about him a light out of heaven:and he fell upon the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest:but rise, and enter into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.
