Tell them not to speak evil things against anyone. Remind them to live in peace. They must consider the needs of others. They must always be gentle toward everyone.

They must not slander anyone and must avoid quarreling. Instead, they should be gentle and show true humility to everyone.

So then, while we have opportunity, let’s do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace loving, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, free of hypocrisy.

To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, loving, compassionate, and humble;

For,“ The one who desires life, to love and see good days, Must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.

We urge you, brothers and sisters, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone.See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek what is good for one another and for all people.

Do not speak against one another, brothers and sisters. The one who speaks against a brother or sister, or judges his brother or sister, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it.

Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are harsh.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

And Paul said,“ I was not aware, brothers, that he is high priest; for it is written:‘ You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.’ ”

Women must likewise be dignified, not malicious gossips, but temperate, faithful in all things.

Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander,

Yet in the same way these people also, dreaming, defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak abusively of angelic majesties.

But these people disparage all the things that they do not understand; and all the things that they know by instinct, like unreasoning animals, by these things they are destroyed.

For though I am free from all people, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may gain more.

May a slanderer not endure on the earth; May evil hunt a violent person violently.”

You have also given me the shield of Your salvation, And Your help makes me great.

Like a shepherd He will tend His flock, In His arm He will gather the lambs And carry them in the fold of His robe; He will gently lead the nursing ewes.

For I am afraid that perhaps when I come I may find you to be not what I wish, and may be found by you to be not what you wish; that perhaps there will be strife, jealousy, angry tempers, selfishness, slanders, gossip, arrogance, disturbances;

A false witness who declares lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers.

Let your gentle spirit be known to all people. The Lord is near.

But we proved to be gentle among you. As a nursing mother tenderly cares for her own children,
