Isaiah cries out concerning Israel:“ Though the number of the Israelites be like the sand by the sea, only the remnant will be saved.

當那日子以色列的餘民、和雅各家逃脫的人、必不再倚靠那擊敗他們的。卻要忠誠誠地倚靠永恆主以色列之聖者。餘民必回，雅各的餘民必回歸於大能的上帝。你的人民以色列雖多如海沙，惟有其餘民必回；滅絕之事已經命定，滿有公義瀰漫着。因為主、萬軍之永恆主、必在全地之中行毁滅之事，鐵定之事。

但上帝的回諭對他說甚麼呢？『我為自己留下了七千人、是沒有向巴力屈過膝的。』照樣看來，就是在現今這時期、也仍然有按恩典的揀選所留下的餘數呢。既是按着恩典，就不是由於行為了；不然，恩典就不再是恩典了。

『然而以色列的人數必如同海沙，不可量，不可數；從前在甚麼地方有話對他們說：「你們不是我的子民」，將來在那裏也必有話對他們說：「你們乃是永活上帝的兒子。」

『你們上她的葡萄樹行列去行毁壞，但不可盡行毁滅；要把她的蔓延枝子除掉，因為它們不屬於永恆主。

我就必定大大地賜福與你，必定使你的後裔大大增多，如同天上的星，如同海邊的沙；你的後裔必佔領仇敵的城。

若不是萬軍之永恆主給我們留下一些殘存人，我們就早已像所多瑪，早已跟蛾摩拉一樣了。

『然而我要遺留一部分人民，因為當你們四散在列邦中時、你們必有人在列國中逃脫了刀劍；

當那日子、主必再舉手，擁有他自己的餘民，就是從亞述、從埃及、從巴忒羅、從古實、從以攔、從示拿和哈馬、以及海邊的沿岸各地、所剩下來的。

以下是亞摩斯的兒子以賽亞的異象，就是當猶大王烏西雅、約坦、亞哈斯、希西家執政的日子以賽亞所看見、論到猶大和耶路撒冷的。

因為大地之間萬族之民中必像已打過的橄欖樹，已割取完了的葡萄樹，剩下的寥寥無幾。

我們哪可再違犯你的命令，跟這些行可憎惡之事的族民彼此結親呢？若這樣行，你豈不向我們發怒，直到我們滅盡，以致沒有一個餘剩之民或逃脫的人麼？

如今永恆主我們的上帝恩待我們片時，給我們留些逃脫的餘民，使我們牢固如釘子在他的聖所，好使我們的上帝光照我們的眼目，使我們在受奴轄之中稍得復興。

故此永恆主必將以色列人交給敵人直到那生產的婦人生產下來；那時那統治者其餘的弟兄就必返回以色列人那裏。靠着永恆主的能力、靠着他的上帝耶和華之名的威嚴、他一定站穩、作為牧民者，羊羣必安然居住，因為那時他必發揚光大直到地極。這就太平、免怕亞述人了；因為當那亞述人進入我們的國土，踐踏我們的土地時，我們就要立起七八個牧民者或七八個人中豪傑去攻擊他。這些人必用刀劍「牧養」亞述地，必用拔出的刀「看顧」寧錄地；因為當那亞述人進入我們的國土，踐踏我們的境界時，這些人必搶救我們脫離那亞述人。雅各餘剩之民必在許多外族之民間像露水從永恆主那裏降下，像甘霖降在草上；不仰仗着人力，不等候着人類之助。雅各餘剩之民必在列國中，在許多外族之民間，像獅子在森林間的百獸中，像少壯獅子在羊羣中；他若經過，就必踐踏撕裂，無人能搶救。
