Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with[ him], that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

乃知舊日之我、與之同釘、俾罪之體泯、不復為罪所役、

蓋自知吾故態、與之釘死、滅厥罪狀、使我不復為罪所役、

蓋知我儕舊日之我、舊日之我原文作本體之舊人與之同釘十字架、以滅罪身、使我儕不復為罪所役、

應知吾人之故我、已與之同釘於十字架上；於是罪孽之身、已蕩然毀滅、而吾人不復為罪孽之奴矣。

For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin—

We know that what we used to be was nailed to the cross with him. That happened so our bodies that were ruled by sin would lose their power. So we are no longer slaves of sin.

We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.

We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.And the servant abideth not in the house for ever:[ but] the Son abideth ever.If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;And have put on the new[ man], which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with[ him] through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

O LORD our God,[ other] lords beside thee have had dominion over us:[ but] by thee only will we make mention of thy name.

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two mules’ burden of earth? for thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice unto other gods, but unto the LORD.
