When there was no reason for hope, Abraham believed because he had hope. He became the father of many nations, exactly as God had promised. God said,“ That is how many children you will have.”( Genesis 15:5)

亞伯漢於無望之中、懷無窮之望；且深信其必成萬邦之父、一如天主所示：「爾之苗裔、將同繁星」之金諾。

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him,“ So shall your offspring be.”

In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told,“ So shall your offspring be.”

Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping— believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him,“ That’s how many descendants you will have!”

He believed, hoping against hope, so that he became the father of many nations according to what had been spoken: So will your descendants be.

In hope against hope he believed, so that he might become a father of many nations according to that which had been spoken,“ So shall your descendants be.”

He believed, hoping against hope, so that he became the father of many nations according to what had been spoken: So will your descendants be.

Against hope Abraham believed in hope with the result that he became the father of many nations according to the pronouncement,“ so will your descendants be.”

Besides hope, Abraham in hope believed, to the end that he might become a father of many nations, according to that which had been spoken,“ So will your offspring be.”

The Lord took Abram outside and said,“ Look up at the sky. Count the stars, if you can.” Then he said to him,“ That’s how many children will be born into your family.”Abram believed the Lord. The Lord was pleased with Abram because he believed. So Abram’s faith made him right with the Lord.

That’s the hope we had when we were saved. But hope that can be seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have?

And hope will never bring us shame. That’s because God’s love has been poured into our hearts. This happened through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus. He was the synagogue leader.“ Your daughter is dead,” they said.“ Why bother the teacher anymore?”Jesus heard what they were saying. He told the synagogue leader,“ Don’t be afraid. Just believe.”

Men, continue to be brave. I have faith in God. It will happen just as he told me.

But Naomi said,“ Go home, my daughters. Why would you want to come with me? Am I going to have any more sons who could become your husbands?Go home, my daughters. I’m too old to have another husband. Suppose I thought there was still some hope for me. Suppose I married a man tonight. And later I had sons by him.Would you wait until they grew up? Would you stay single until you could marry them? No, my daughters. My life is more bitter than yours. The Lord’ s power has turned against me!”

Hope that is put off makes one sick at heart. But a desire that is met is like a tree of life.

It is written,“ I have made you a father of many nations.”( Genesis 17:5) God considers Abraham to be our father. The God that Abraham believed in gives life to the dead. Abraham’s God also creates things that did not exist before.

Then the Lord said to me,“ Son of man, these bones stand for all the people of Israel. The people say,‘ Our bones are dried up. We’ve lost all hope. We are destroyed.’

Zechariah asked the angel,“ How can I be sure of this? I am an old man, and my wife is old too.”

Abraham did not become weak in his faith. He accepted the fact that he was past the time when he could have children. At that time Abraham was about 100 years old. He also realized that Sarah was too old to have children.
