亞伯漢於無望之中、懷無窮之望；且深信其必成萬邦之父、一如天主所示：「爾之苗裔、將同繁星」之金諾。

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him,“ So shall your offspring be.”

When there was no reason for hope, Abraham believed because he had hope. He became the father of many nations, exactly as God had promised. God said,“ That is how many children you will have.”( Genesis 15:5)

In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told,“ So shall your offspring be.”

Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping— believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him,“ That’s how many descendants you will have!”

耶和華把亞伯蘭帶到外面，對他說：「你抬頭看看天空，數數繁星，你能數得盡嗎？你的後裔必這麼多。」亞伯蘭信耶和華，耶和華便算他為義人。

我們得救的人有這個盼望。不過，看得見的盼望根本不算盼望，因為誰會盼望已經看見的呢？

這種盼望不會落空，因為上帝的愛藉著所賜給我們的聖靈已傾注在我們心中。

耶穌還在說話的時候，有人從雅魯家中趕來，對雅魯說：「你的女兒已經死了，何必麻煩老師呢？」耶穌聽了，便對雅魯說：「不要怕，只要信。」

所以請各位放心，我深信上帝所說的話必然會成就。

拿俄米說：「我的女兒啊，回娘家去吧！為什麼要跟我去呢？難道我還能生兒子做你們的丈夫嗎？回去吧！我的女兒啊，走吧！我已經老了，不可能再嫁人了。就算我還有指望，今晚能再結婚生子，難道你們能一直不嫁，等到他們長大嗎？不要這樣，我的女兒啊！這樣你們會很苦，我就更苦了，因為耶和華伸手懲罰我。」

盼望無期，使人憂傷；夙願得償，帶來生機。

亞伯拉罕在上帝面前是我們所有人的父，正如聖經上說：「我已經立你為萬族之父。」他所信的上帝是能夠使死人復活、使無變有的上帝。

耶和華對我說：「人子啊，這些骸骨就是所有的以色列人，他們說，『我們骨頭枯乾，希望幻滅，徹底完了。』

撒迦利亞對天使說：「我已經老了，我的妻子也上了年紀，我如何知道這是真的呢？」

那時他將近百歲，知道自己身體如同已死，撒拉也過了生育的歲數，但他的信心仍然沒有動搖。
