我们活是为主而活，死是为主而死。因此，我们无论生死都是属主的人。

我殷切地期待和盼望：我不会感到任何羞愧，而是放胆无惧，不管是生是死，都要一如既往地使基督在我身上得到尊崇。

主替我们死，使我们无论是醒是睡，都可以与祂同活。

然而，各人要按照先后次序复活。基督最先复活，以后祂再来时，属祂的人也要复活。

但保罗说：“你们为什么这样哭泣，令我心碎呢？我为主耶稣的名甘愿受捆绑，甚至死在耶路撒冷。”

你们的信心就是献给上帝的事奉和祭物，即使在上面浇奠我的生命，我也很喜乐，并且和你们大家一同喜乐。

“大卫在世时遵行上帝的旨意，最后死了，葬在他祖先那里，肉身也朽坏了。

我们既然相信耶稣死了，又复活了，也要相信上帝必把那些安息的信徒和耶稣一同带来。我们把主耶稣的话告诉你们：主再来的那天，我们还活着的人不会比已安息的信徒先见到主。因为主必在号令声、天使长的呼喊声和上帝的号角声中亲自从天降临，已经离世的基督徒必先复活。然后，我们还活着的人要和他们一起被提到云里，在空中与主相会，永远和主在一起。所以你们要用这些话彼此鼓励。

我听见天上有声音说：“你将下面的话写下来，从今以后，那些为主而死的人有福了！”圣灵说：“是的！他们将得享安息，不再劳苦。他们工作的成果必随着他们。”

他为了基督的工作，将生死置之度外，几乎丧命，以弥补你们服侍我的不足之处。

不过，只要能跑完我当跑的路程，完成主耶稣交托给我的使命——为上帝充满恩典的福音做见证，就是牺牲性命，我也在所不惜。

这话是暗示彼得将要怎样死来使上帝得荣耀。之后，耶稣又对他说：“你跟从我吧！”

无论是保罗、亚波罗、彼得、世界、生命、死亡、现在的事或将来的事都属于你们，你们属于基督，基督属于上帝。
