The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them.

The person who eats everything must not look down on the one who does not. And the one who doesn’t eat everything must not judge the person who does. That’s because God has accepted them.

Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him.

Those who feel free to eat anything must not look down on those who don’t. And those who don’t eat certain foods must not condemn those who do, for God has accepted them.

One who eats must not look down on one who does not eat, and one who does not eat must not judge one who does, because God has accepted him.

耶穌對那些自以為義、藐視別人的人講了一個比喻：

那麼，你為什麼論斷弟兄姊妹呢？為什麼輕視弟兄姊妹呢？將來我們都要一同站在上帝的審判臺前。

這樣，你的知識反而令那軟弱的人，就是基督捨命救回的弟兄沉淪。你們這樣得罪弟兄，傷了他脆弱的良心，就是得罪基督。所以，如果我吃某些食物會令我的弟兄在信仰上跌倒，我就情願永遠不吃，免得令他們跌倒。

所以，我們不可再互相論斷，要留心自己的言行，不要絆倒弟兄姊妹。

如果你吃的東西令弟兄姊妹不安，你就不是憑愛心行事。你不可因為一點食物而損害基督捨命救贖的人。

「不要論斷別人，免得你們被論斷。因為你們怎樣論斷別人，也必照樣被論斷；你們用什麼尺度衡量別人，也要用什麼尺度衡量你們。

你們切不可輕視任何一位卑微的人。我告訴你們，他們的天使在天上常見我天父的面。

不過我指的不是你的良心，而是那人的良心。或許有人說：「我的自由為什麼要受別人的良心限制呢？如果我存感恩的心吃，為什麼還要受批評呢？」

所以，不可讓人在飲食、節期、朔日或安息日的事上批評你們。這些都不過是將來之事的影子，那真實的本體是基督。

無論是吃肉、喝酒還是做任何別的事，如果會絆倒別人，就應該一概不做。

彼得說：「現在我深深地明白，上帝不偏待人。

那時，約翰的門徒來問耶穌：「我們和法利賽人常常禁食，為什麼你的門徒不禁食呢？」

誰敢藐視這微不足道的日子？人們看見所羅巴伯手中拿著線錘時，就必歡喜。「這七盞燈是耶和華遍察天下的眼睛。」

彼得還在說話的時候，聖靈就降臨在每一個聽道的人身上。

約翰來了，也不吃也不喝，他們就說他被鬼附身。人子來了，又吃又喝，他們就說祂是貪吃好酒之徒，與稅吏和罪人為友。然而智慧會在她的作為上得到驗證。」

洞悉人心的上帝把聖靈賜給他們，正如賜給我們一樣，以表明祂也接納外族人。上帝對他們和我們一視同仁，祂因他們的信心而潔淨了他們的心靈。
