敵飢則食之、渴則飲之、如是而行、猶以爇炭集厥首、

敵饑則飼之、渴則飲之、猶以爇炭集厥首、

爾敵饑則飼之、渴則飲之、爾如是行、猶以熱炭置於其首、

故曰：『敵人飢則食之、渴則飲之、是不啻以烈火加厥頂。』

On the contrary:“ If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

Do just the opposite. Scripture says,“ If your enemies are hungry, give them food to eat. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. By doing those things, you will pile up burning coals on their heads.”( Proverbs 25:21, 22)

To the contrary,“ if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.”

Instead,“ If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.”

But If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink. For in so doing you will be heaping fiery coals on his head.

But if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him to drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head.

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, (niv)

“ But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, (niv)

“ If you come across your enemy’s ox or donkey wandering off, be sure to return it.If you see the donkey of someone who hates you fallen down under its load, do not leave it there; be sure you help them with it. (niv)

“ Do not kill them,” he answered.“ Would you kill those you have captured with your own sword or bow? Set food and water before them so that they may eat and drink and then go back to their master.” (niv)

Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame.Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot sweep it away. If one were to give all the wealth of one’s house for love, it would be utterly scorned. (niv)

When David finished saying this, Saul asked,“ Is that your voice, David my son?” And he wept aloud.“ You are more righteous than I,” he said.“ You have treated me well, but I have treated you badly.You have just now told me about the good you did to me; the Lord delivered me into your hands, but you did not kill me.When a man finds his enemy, does he let him get away unharmed? May the Lord reward you well for the way you treated me today. (niv)

Then Saul said,“ I have sinned. Come back, David my son. Because you considered my life precious today, I will not try to harm you again. Surely I have acted like a fool and have been terribly wrong.” (niv)

May burning coals fall on them; may they be thrown into the fire, into miry pits, never to rise. (niv)

He will punish you with a warrior’s sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom bush. (niv)
