I only want to learn this from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law or by hearing with faith?

So then, does God supply you with the Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law or by hearing with faith?

Let the message about the Messiah dwell richly among you, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, and singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, with gratitude in your hearts to God.

This is why we constantly thank God, because when you received the message about God that you heard from us, you welcomed it not as a human message, but as it truly is, the message of God, which also works effectively in you believers.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is God’s power for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek.

Then He said to them,“ Pay attention to what you hear. By the measure you use, it will be measured and added to you.

He said,“ Even more, those who hear the word of God and keep it are blessed!”

But He replied to them,“ My mother and My brothers are those who hear and do the word of God.”

But we must always thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God has chosen you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and through belief in the truth.He called you to this through our gospel, so that you might obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

By His own choice, He gave us a new birth by the message of truth so that we would be the firstfruits of His creatures.My dearly loved brothers, understand this: Everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger,for man’s anger does not accomplish God’s righteousness.Therefore, ridding yourselves of all moral filth and evil, humbly receive the implanted word, which is able to save you.

For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the ideas and thoughts of the heart.No creature is hidden from Him, but all things are naked and exposed to the eyes of Him to whom we must give an account.

Hasn’t God made the world’s wisdom foolish?For since, in God’s wisdom, the world did not know God through wisdom, God was pleased to save those who believe through the foolishness of the message preached.For the Jews ask for signs and the Greeks seek wisdom,but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles.Yet to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is God’s power and God’s wisdom,

The prophet who has only a dream should recount the dream, but the one who has My word should speak My word truthfully, for what is straw compared to grain?”— this is the Lord’s declaration.“ Is not My word like fire”— this is the Lord’s declaration—“ and like a hammer that pulverizes rock?

But how can they call on Him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about Him? And how can they hear without a preacher?

“ But Abraham said,‘ They have Moses and the prophets; they should listen to them.’“‘ No, father Abraham,’ he said.‘ But if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’“ But he told him,‘ If they don’t listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be persuaded if someone rises from the dead.’”

since you have been born again— not of perishable seed but of imperishable— through the living and enduring word of God.For All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like a flower of the grass. for we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saintsbecause of the hope reserved for you in heaven. You have already heard about this hope in the message of truth, the gospelthat has come to you. It is bearing fruit and growing all over the world, just as it has among you since the day you heard it and recognized God’s grace in the truth.
