這樣，他們用吃草的牛的像，代替了他們的榮耀的神。

有哪一國把自己的神換掉呢？其實那些並不是神。我的子民竟把他們的榮耀，換了無益的偶像。

他們用虛謊取代了神的真理，敬拜事奉受造之物，卻不敬拜事奉造物的主。他是永遠可稱頌的，阿們。

我們既然是神的子孫，就不應該以為他的神性是好像人用手藝、心思所雕刻的金銀石頭一樣。

於是我進去觀看，見四圍的牆上刻著各種形狀的爬行的動物，和可憎惡的走獸，以及以色列家所有的偶像。

它們有口，卻不能說話；有眼，卻不能看；有耳，卻不能聽；有鼻，卻不能聞；有手，卻不能摸；有腳，卻不能行；也不能用喉嚨發聲。做偶像的必和偶像一樣；凡是倚靠它們的，都必這樣。

你們知道，你們還是教外人的時候，總是受迷惑被引誘，去拜那不能說話的偶像。

“‘你不可為自己做偶像，也不可做天上、地下和地底下水中各物的形象。

“所以你們要特別小心，謹慎自己，因為耶和華在何烈山從火中對你們說話的那一天，你們沒有看見甚麼形象；恐怕你們敗壞自己，為自己製造偶像，製造任何神像的形象，無論是男像或是女像，或是地上各種走獸的像，或是飛翔在空中各類有翅膀的雀鳥的像，或是地上各種爬行的動物的像，或是地底下水裡各樣魚類的像。

你們把誰來跟神相比呢？你們用甚麼形象來與神並列呢？

你們向天舉目吧！看是誰創造了這些萬象？是誰按著數目把萬象領出來，一一指名呼喚？因他的大能大力，連一個也不缺少。

因為你們過去隨從教外人的心意，行邪淫、私慾、醉酒、荒宴、狂飲和可憎拜偶像的事，時候已經夠了。

木匠拉線，用筆畫出輪廓，用鉋子鉋平，用圓規畫出模樣，做成人的形狀，有人一般的美麗，好住在廟裡。

列國的偶像是金的銀的，是人手所做的。有口卻不能說話，有眼卻不能看，有耳卻不能聽，口中也沒有氣息。做偶像的必和它們一樣，所有倚靠它們的也必這樣。

其餘沒有在這些災難中被殺的人，仍然不為他們手所作的悔改，還是去拜鬼魔和那些金、銀、銅、石頭、木頭做的，不能看、不能聽、也不能走路的偶像。
