蝗虫吃剩的，蝻子来吃；蝻子吃剩的，蚱蜢来吃；蚱蜢吃剩的，蚂蚱来吃。

“我派蝻虫、蚱蜢、蚂蚱和蝗虫大军在那些年所吃掉的，我要补偿你们。

但不可杀死他们，只折磨他们五个月。那种折磨就像被蝎子蛰到一样。

它们像蝎子一样尾巴上有毒钩，可以折磨人五个月。它们的王是无底坑的天使，希伯来文名叫亚巴顿，希腊文名叫亚玻伦，意思是“毁灭者”。

我父亲使你们负重担，我要使你们负更重的担子；我父亲用鞭子打你们，我要用刺鞭打你们。’”

米甸人、亚玛力人及东方人像蝗虫一样布满山谷，他们的骆驼如海边的沙一样不计其数。

但在那里，火要吞噬你，刀剑要杀戮你，要像蝗虫吞没你。你只管像蝗虫一样繁殖，如蚱蜢一般增多吧！

这次你若再不答应，明天我要使蝗虫飞入你的国境。它们铺天盖地，要吃光冰雹过后田间所剩的，包括一切树木。你的王宫及臣仆和所有埃及人的房屋都要布满蝗虫，这是你祖祖辈辈从未见过的蝗灾。’”摩西说完，便转身离开法老。臣仆对法老说：“这个人还要给我们添多少麻烦呢？让他们离开去事奉他们的上帝耶和华吧！埃及已经快崩溃了，你不知道吗？”法老便召摩西和亚伦进宫，对他们说：“你们去事奉你们的上帝耶和华吧！但你们谁要去呢？”摩西回答说：“我们男女老幼都要去，还有我们的牛群和羊群，因为我们要去守耶和华的节期，向祂献祭。”法老听后，说：“我若让你们带走妇女和孩子，最好耶和华能保护你们！你们真是居心叵测。不行！只有男子可以去事奉耶和华，这是你们一直要求的。”法老说完，便下令把他们赶出去。耶和华对摩西说：“你向埃及伸杖，使蝗虫飞来吃尽冰雹过后剩下的植物。”摩西就向埃及伸杖。耶和华使东风在埃及境内刮了整整一天一夜，到早晨，东风带来了蝗虫。埃及到处都布满了蝗虫，数目之多实在是空前绝后。整个埃及铺满蝗虫，地上一片黑暗。这些蝗虫吃尽了冰雹过后剩下的农作物和树上的果子，没有留下一点青绿。

带领你们走过干旱、可怕、毒蛇和蝎子出没的大旷野。祂使坚硬的磐石流出水来给你们喝，

人子啊，不要怕他们和他们的话，虽然你周围布满荆棘和毒蝎，也不要害怕。他们是一群叛逆的人，你不要怕他们的话，也不要因为他们的脸色而惊慌。

他们的战利品必被拿走，就像谷物被蝗虫吃掉一样；人们像蝗虫一样扑向他们的战利品。

你的臣仆像蝗虫，你的将领像成群的蚱蜢。它们寒日聚集在墙上，太阳一出来就飞走了，无人知道它们的行踪。

我已经给你们权柄，使你们能践踏蛇和蝎子，胜过仇敌的权势，没有什么能伤害你们。
