最後要毀滅的仇敵就是死，

蒙耶和華贖回的人必歸回，必歡呼地來到錫安；永遠的喜樂必臨到他們的頭上；他們必得著歡喜和快樂，憂愁和歎息都必逃跑了。

你的太陽必不再下落，你的月亮也必不退縮；因為耶和華要作你永遠的光，你悲哀的日子必要終止。

這必朽壞的既穿上了不朽壞的，這必死的既穿上了不死的，那時，經上的話就應驗了：“勝利了！死亡已經被吞滅。死亡啊！你的勝利在哪裡？死亡啊！你的毒刺在哪裡？”死的毒刺就是罪，罪的權勢就是律法。感謝神，他藉著我們的主耶穌基督，把勝利賜給我們。所以，我親愛的弟兄們，你們務要堅固，不可動搖，常常竭力多作主工，因為知道你們的勞苦，在主裡面不是徒然的。

你們要因我所創造的永遠歡喜快樂；因為我創造耶路撒冷成為快樂，使她的居民歡樂。我必因耶路撒冷快樂，因我的子民歡喜；他們中間必不再聽到哭泣的聲音，也不再聽到哀號的聲音。

我又看見一個新天新地，因為先前的天地都過去了，海也再沒有了。

那時，童女必歡樂跳舞，年輕的和年老的一起歡樂。我必使他們的悲哀變為喜樂，我必安慰他們，使他們從憂愁中得著歡樂。

死亡和陰間也被拋在火湖裡。這火湖就是第二次的死。

耶和華所贖的人必歸回；他們必歡呼著進入錫安；永遠的快樂要臨到他們的頭上。他們必得著歡喜快樂，憂愁歎息都必逃避。

所有咒詛都不再有了。城裡有神和羊羔的寶座，他的僕人都要事奉他，

天地都要過去，但我的話決不會廢去。

錫安的人民、耶路撒冷的居民哪！你們必不再哭泣。他必因你哀求的聲音恩待你；他聽見的時候，就必應允你。

為錫安悲哀的人穿上裝飾，賜給他們華冠代替灰塵，喜樂油代替悲哀，讚美衣代替沮喪的靈，他們必稱為公義的橡樹，是耶和華栽種的，好使他自己得著榮耀。

孩子們既然同有血肉之體，他自己也照樣成為血肉之體，為要藉著死，消滅那掌握死權的魔鬼，並且要釋放那些因為怕死而終身作奴僕的人。

但主的日子必要像賊一樣來到。在那日，天必轟然一聲地消失，所有元素都因烈火而融化；地和地上所有的，都要被燒毀（“被燒毀”有不少古抄本作“被發現”）。

人不過像一口氣，他的年日仿佛影子消逝。

享用世上百物的要像沒有享用的一樣，因為這世上的情況都要過去。

我要救贖他們脫離陰間的權勢嗎？救贖他們脫離死亡嗎？死亡啊，你的災害在哪裡？陰間啊，你的毀滅在哪裡？憐憫必從我眼前隱藏起來。

所以，“主說：你們要從他們中間出來，和他們分開，不可觸摸不潔淨的東西，我就收納你們。”
