將與當日之榮華侈泰相稱。彼心中自言曰：「我乃王后、而非寡婦、必無憂戚之日。」

Give her as much torment and grief as the glory and luxury she gave herself. In her heart she boasts,‘ I sit enthroned as queen. I am not a widow; I will never mourn.’

As she glorified herself and lived in luxury, so give her a like measure of torment and mourning, since in her heart she says,‘ I sit as a queen, I am no widow, and mourning I shall never see.’

You said,‘ I am forever— the eternal queen!’ But you did not consider these things or reflect on what might happen.“ Now then, listen, you lover of pleasure, lounging in your security and saying to yourself,‘ I am, and there is none besides me. I will never be a widow or suffer the loss of children.’Both of these will overtake you in a moment, on a single day: loss of children and widowhood. They will come upon you in full measure, in spite of your many sorceries and all your potent spells. (niv)

How deserted lies the city, once so full of people! How like a widow is she, who once was great among the nations! She who was queen among the provinces has now become a slave. (niv)
