凡此皆天主為促成聖謨、而使若輩一致讓國與獸、以待天主之言之圓滿見驗耳。

爾時吾見一獸自海中出、十角七首、上有十冕、首上僭號無數。此獸望之若豹、其足若熊、其口若獅；龍以己之權位威力授之。

於海獸之前、操其大權、驅策全世居民、朝拜曩日受傷獲瘳之前獸。

無長無幼、莫不尊之、曰：『斯人即所謂天主之大能者歟！』眾之所以嚮往至此者、蓋受其巫術之眩惑也久矣。

亦即七王；就中五者已隕一尚存、一將至；及其至也、當有片時停留；

惟大憝之暴興也、亦必恃沙殫之魔力、恣權行異、以種種邪法、熒惑自求淪喪之徒。所謂自求淪喪之徒者、即不知愛慕真理、以望得救者耳。既不愛慕真理、天主亦祇得聽其從妄信謊、於是凡不信真理而惟邪惡是好者、必至判罪而後已。

西門常睹斐理伯靈蹟、為之驚異不置、乃亦不能不信服而受洗焉。

吾又見婦人已因暢飲眾聖及諸為耶穌致命者之血、而酩酊矣。吾對之不勝驚訝駭異之至。

法利塞人因相語曰：『舉世風從、吾其休矣！』
