你看見的那獸，先前在、現今不在、將來要從無底坑上來，然後走向滅亡。住在世上的人，凡是名字在創世以來沒有記在生命冊上的，看見了那先前在、現今不在、將來還要出現的獸，就都要驚奇。

牠得了能力，在頭一隻獸面前能行奇事，迷惑了住在地上的人，吩咐住在地上的人，要為那受過刀傷而還活著的獸做個像。

他們同心合意，把自己的權力權柄交給那獸。

神要眾王行他的旨意，就把意念放在他們心中，叫他們同心把自己的國獻給那獸，直到神的話都實現為止。

我又看見一隻獸從海裡上來，有十角七頭，十角上戴著十個皇冠，七頭上有褻瀆的名號。我所看見的獸，樣子好像豹，腳像熊的腳，口像獅子的口。龍把自己的能力、王位和大權柄，都交給了牠。

牠在頭一隻獸面前，行使頭一隻獸的一切權柄。牠使全地和住在地上的人，都拜那受過致命傷而醫好了的頭一隻獸。

城裡大大小小都聽從他，說：“這就是那稱為‘神的大能’的人。”他們聽從他，因為他長久用邪術，使他們驚奇。

“‘我必使巴比倫王的膀臂有力量，把我的刀交在他手中；我要折斷法老的膀臂，使他在巴比倫王面前呻吟，像一個受傷快死的人一樣。

也就是七位王：五位已經倒了，一位還在，另一位還沒有來到；他來的時候，必須存留一會兒。

這不法的人來到，是照著撒但的行動，行各樣的異能奇蹟和荒誕的事，並且在那些沉淪的人身上，行各樣不義的欺詐，因為他們不領受愛真理的心，使他們得救。因此，神就使錯謬的思想運行在他們當中，讓他們相信虛謊，叫所有不信真理倒喜愛不義的人，都被定罪。

連西門自己也信了，他受洗之後，常和腓利在一起，看見所發生的神蹟和大能的事，就覺得很驚奇。

我又看見那婦人喝聖徒的血，和那為耶穌作見證的人的血，喝醉了。我看見了她，就大大驚奇。

於是法利賽人彼此說：“你們看，你們都是徒勞無功，世人都去跟隨他了！”

那時，有諭旨從凱撒奧古士督頒發下來，叫普天下的人登記戶口。
