Should good be repaid with evil? Yet they have dug a pit for me. Remember how I stood before you to speak good on their behalf, to turn your anger from them.

Therefore, a Sabbath rest remains for God’s people.

Above all, be aware of this: Scoffers will come in the last days scoffing and following their own evil desires,saying,“ Where is his‘ coming’ that he promised? Ever since our ancestors fell asleep, all things continue as they have been since the beginning of creation.”They deliberately overlook this: By the word of God the heavens came into being long ago and the earth was brought about from water and through water.Through these the world of that time perished when it was flooded.By the same word, the present heavens and earth are stored up for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

For our momentary light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory.So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Let a cry be heard from their houses when you suddenly bring raiders against them, for they have dug a pit to capture me and have hidden snares for my feet.

Go, my people, enter your rooms and close your doors behind you. Hide for a little while until the wrath has passed.For look, the LORD is coming from his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity. Why should I fear in times of trouble? The iniquity of my foes surrounds me.

The nations were angry, but your wrath has come. The time has come for the dead to be judged and to give the reward to your servants the prophets, to the saints, and to those who fear your name, both small and great, and the time has come to destroy those who destroy the earth.

and to give relief to you who are afflicted, along with us. This will take place at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his powerful angels,when he takes vengeance with flaming fire on those who don’t know God and on those who don’t obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
