天主歟、驕傲之人、群起攻擊我、強橫之黨類、欲索我命、彼皆目中無天主、

驕人悻悻。逞其狂傲。群逆結黨。恣其凶暴。目中無主。哀哉不肖。

Arrogant foes are attacking me, O God; ruthless people are trying to kill me— they have no regard for you.

God, proud people are attacking me. A gang of mean people is trying to kill me. They don’t care about you.

O God, insolent men have risen up against me; a band of ruthless men seeks my life, and they do not set you before them.

O God, insolent people rise up against me; a violent gang is trying to kill me. You mean nothing to them.

God, arrogant people have attacked me; a gang of ruthless men intends to kill me. They do not let you guide them.

God, arrogant men have risen up against me, And a gang of violent men have sought my life, And they have not set You before them.

O God, the proud have risen against me, And a mob of violent men have sought my life, And have not set You before them.

God, arrogant people have attacked me; a gang of ruthless men seeks my life. They have no regard for You.

O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent[ men] have sought after my soul; and have not set thee before them.

The proud have digged pits for me, Who are not according to thy law.

He saith in his heart: God hath forgotten; He hideth his face, he will never see it.

Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give your counsel what we shall do.And Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Go in unto thy father’s concubines, that he hath left to keep the house; and all Israel will hear that thou art abhorred of thy father: then will the hands of all that are with thee be strong.So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and Absalom went in unto his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was as if a man inquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.Moreover Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night:

Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God, And say in his heart, Thou wilt not require it?

The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, There is no fear of God before his eyes.

And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For Jehovah had ordained to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that Jehovah might bring evil upon Absalom.

Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And call not upon Jehovah?

The proud have had me greatly in derision: Yet have I not swerved from thy law.

Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in his chambers of imagery? for they say, Jehovah seeth us not; Jehovah hath forsaken the land.

Then were gathered together the chief priests, and the elders of the people, unto the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas;and they took counsel together that they might take Jesus by subtlety, and kill him.

And it came to pass after this, that Absalom prepared him a chariot and horses, and fifty men to run before him.And Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate: and it was so, that, when any man had a suit which should come to the king for judgment, then Absalom called unto him, and said, Of what city art thou? And he said, Thy servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.And Absalom said unto him, See, thy matters are good and right; but there is no man deputed of the king to hear thee.Absalom said moreover, Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man who hath any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice!And it was so, that, when any man came nigh to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and took hold of him, and kissed him.And on this manner did Absalom to all Israel that came to the king for judgment: so Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.And it came to pass at the end of forty years, that Absalom said unto the king, I pray thee, let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed unto Jehovah, in Hebron.For thy servant vowed a vow while I abode at Geshur in Syria, saying, If Jehovah shall indeed bring me again to Jerusalem, then I will serve Jehovah.And the king said unto him, Go in peace. So he arose, and went to Hebron.But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, As soon as ye hear the sound of the trumpet, then ye shall say, Absalom is king in Hebron.And with Absalom went two hundred men out of Jerusalem, that were invited, and went in their simplicity; and they knew not anything.And Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counsellor, from his city, even from Giloh, while he was offering the sacrifices. And the conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom.

Now when morning was come, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:and they bound him, and led him away, and delivered him up to Pilate the governor.

for of a truth in this city against thy holy Servant Jesus, whom thou didst anoint, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, were gathered together,to do whatsoever thy hand and thy council foreordained to come to pass.

The wicked, in the pride of his countenance, saith, He will not require it. All his thoughts are, There is no God.

The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; They have spread a net by the wayside; They have set gins for me.[ Selah

Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of wresting of judgment: for they say, Jehovah hath forsaken the land, and Jehovah seeth not.

The proud have forged a lie against me: With my whole heart will I keep thy precepts.
