高壇徧設。偶像是崇。輕干天怒。觸迕聖衷。

They angered him with their high places; they aroused his jealousy with their idols.

They made God angry by going to their high places. They made him jealous by worshiping the statues of their gods.

( for you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God),

Then the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served the Baals and the Ashtoreths, the gods of Syria, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the people of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; and they forsook the Lord and did not serve Him.

lest you act corruptly and make for yourselves a carved image in the form of any figure: the likeness of male or female,the likeness of any animal that is on the earth or the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the air,the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground or the likeness of any fish that is in the water beneath the earth.And take heed, lest you lift your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, you feel driven to worship them and serve them, which the Lord your God has given to all the peoples under the whole heaven as a heritage.But the Lord has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be His people, an inheritance, as you are this day.Furthermore the Lord was angry with me for your sakes, and swore that I would not cross over the Jordan, and that I would not enter the good land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.But I must die in this land, I must not cross over the Jordan; but you shall cross over and possess that good land.Take heed to yourselves, lest you forget the covenant of the Lord your God which He made with you, and make for yourselves a carved image in the form of anything which the Lord your God has forbidden you.For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.“ When you beget children and grandchildren and have grown old in the land, and act corruptly and make a carved image in the form of anything, and do evil in the sight of the Lord your God to provoke Him to anger,

“ You shall not make for yourself a carved image— any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,

How long, Lord? Will You be angry forever? Will Your jealousy burn like fire?

Then the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served the Baals;and they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt; and they followed other gods from among the gods of the people who were all around them, and they bowed down to them; and they provoked the Lord to anger.

Listen! The voice, The cry of the daughter of my people From a far country:“ Is not the Lord in Zion? Is not her King in her?”“ Why have they provoked Me to anger With their carved images— With foreign idols?”

then you shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, destroy all their engraved stones, destroy all their molded images, and demolish all their high places;

When I brought them into the land concerning which I had raised My hand in an oath to give them, and they saw all the high hills and all the thick trees, there they offered their sacrifices and provoked Me with their offerings. There they also sent up their sweet aroma and poured out their drink offerings.Then I said to them,‘ What is this high place to which you go?’ So its name is called Bamah to this day.”’

He stretched out the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my hair; and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven, and brought me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the north gate of the inner court, where the seat of the image of jealousy was, which provokes to jealousy.And behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, like the vision that I saw in the plain.Then He said to me,“ Son of man, lift your eyes now toward the north.” So I lifted my eyes toward the north, and there, north of the altar gate, was this image of jealousy in the entrance.

‘ Cursed is the one who makes a carved or molded image, an abomination to the Lord, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and sets it up in secret.’“ And all the people shall answer and say,‘ Amen!’
