We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.

神啊，自我年幼，你就教導我；直到如今，我傳揚你奇妙的作為。神啊，我年老髮白的時候，求你不要離棄我！等我宣揚你的能力給下一代，宣揚你的大能給後世的人。

也要殷勤教導你的兒女。無論你坐在家裏，走在路上，躺下，起來，都要吟誦。

「但你要謹慎，殷勤保守你的心靈，免得忘記你親眼所看見的事，又免得在你一生的年日這些事離開你的心，總要把它們傳給你的子子孫孫。

這些石頭在你們中間將成為記號。日後，你們的子孫問你們說：『這些石頭對你們有甚麼意思呢？』你們就對他們說：『這是因為約旦河的水在耶和華的約櫃前中斷；約櫃過約旦河的時候，約旦河的水就中斷了。這些石頭要作以色列人永遠的紀念。』」

我要照耶和華一切所賜給我們的，並他憑憐憫與豐盛的慈愛所賜給以色列家的大恩，述說他的慈愛和美德。他說：「他們誠然是我的百姓，未行虛假的子民。」這樣，他就作了他們的救主。他們在一切苦難當中，他也同受苦難，並且他面前的使者拯救他們。他以慈愛和憐憫救贖他們，在古時的日子時常抱他們，背他們。他們竟然悖逆，使他的聖靈憂傷。他就轉變，成為他們的仇敵，親自攻擊他們。那時，他的百姓想起古時摩西的日子：「那將百姓和牧養羣羊的人從海裏領上來的在哪裏呢？那將聖靈降在他們中間，以榮耀的膀臂在摩西右邊行動，在百姓面前將水分開，為要建立自己永遠的名，又帶領他們經過深處的在哪裏呢？」他們如馬行走曠野，不致絆跌；又如牲畜下到山谷，耶和華的靈使他們得安息；照樣，你也引導你的百姓，為要建立自己榮耀的名。求你從天上，從你神聖榮耀的居所垂顧觀看。你的熱心和你大能的作為在哪裏呢？你內心的關懷和你的憐憫向我們停止了。亞伯拉罕雖然不承認我們，以色列也不承認我們，你卻是我們的父。耶和華啊，你是我們的父；自古以來，你的名是「我們的救贖主」。耶和華啊，你為何使我們偏離你的道，使我們心裏剛硬、不敬畏你呢？求你為你的僕人，為你產業的支派而回轉。你的聖民暫時得你的聖所，但我們的敵人踐踏了它。我們就成了你未曾治理的人，成了未曾稱為你名下的人。

當那日，你要告訴你的兒子說：『這樣做是因為耶和華在我出埃及的時候為我所做的事。』

對以色列人說：「日後，你們的子孫問他們的父親說：『這些石頭是甚麼意思呢？』你們就讓你們的子孫知道，說：『以色列人曾走乾地過這約旦河。』因為耶和華－你們的神在你們前面使約旦河的水乾了，直到你們過來，就如耶和華－你們的神從前在我們前面使紅海乾了，直到我們過來一樣，要使地上萬民都知道，耶和華的手大有能力，也要使你們天天敬畏耶和華－你們的神。」

耶和華啊，你為甚麼站在遠處？在患難的時候為甚麼隱藏？惡人驕橫地追逼困苦人；願他們陷在自己所設的計謀裏。因為惡人以自己的心願自誇，貪財的背棄耶和華，並且輕慢他。惡人面帶驕傲，不尋找耶和華；他的思想中全無神。他的路時常亨通，你的審判不在他眼裏。至於他所有的敵人，他都向他們發怒氣。

我好發出稱謝的聲音，述說你一切奇妙的作為。

你們的兒女對你們說：『這禮儀是甚麼意思呢？』

好讓我述說你一切的美德。我要在錫安的城門因你的救恩歡樂。

日後，你的兒子問你說：『這是甚麼意思？』你就說：『耶和華用大能的手將我們從埃及為奴之家領出來。

就是智慧人從列祖所受，傳講而不隱瞞的事。
