Yet he was merciful; he forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time he restrained his anger and did not stir up his full wrath.

But he was full of tender love. He forgave their sins and didn’t destroy his people. Time after time he held back his anger. He didn’t let all his burning anger blaze out.

Yet he, being compassionate, atoned for their iniquity and did not destroy them; he restrained his anger often and did not stir up all his wrath.

Yet he was merciful and forgave their sins and did not destroy them all. Many times he held back his anger and did not unleash his fury!

我怒不遽發、不滅絕爾者、正以彰我榮、

耶和華恆忍、施恩之上帝、人蹈罪愆、可蒙赦宥、恆於惡者不蒙赦宥、禍及其身、自父及子、至三四世。爾既廣施仁德、宥民罪愆、自出埃及、迄於今日、已非一次、故求爾仍加赦宥。耶和華曰、我從爾言、以赦其罪。

過摩西前曰、耶和華全能之上帝、仁慈矜憫、恆忍施恩、真實無妄、錫恩於人、至千百世、人蹈罪愆、可蒙赦宥、恆於惡者、不蒙赦宥、禍及其身、自父及子、至三四世。摩西速稽首伏拜、曰、如沾主恩、請與偕往、斯民雖強項不馴、望赦我儕之罪戾、使我儕恆為爾民。

然以色列族在曠野、違逆乎我、不遵我禮儀、犯我安息日、浸假有人守我法度、則可保生、惟彼藐視之、故我自謂、必在曠野、震怒斯眾、滅之務盡。夫我所以不加殲滅者、恐列國之人、以我僅導斯民出於埃及、必將藐視我名。

從父所為、於耶和華前所行不善、

然我猶加矜憫、不忍殲滅、不使殞沒於曠野、

雅各家以色列族、我肇厥邦基、為我臣僕、當憶斯理、我不忘爾。我塗抹爾罪、若驅密雲、予已拯爾、爾當歸誠。

主屢行拯救、民乃背逆、自取罪戾、日就消亡兮。民逢禍患、主聞其籲、復加眷顧兮、追念聖約、體恤倍至、矜憫靡涯兮。

耶和華諭摩西曰、離此會眾、我將速滅之、二人俯伏。摩西告亞倫曰、耶和華怒甚、其災已降、爾當執鼎、取壇上之火炷香、急至眾會、代為贖罪。亞倫遵摩西命、取鼎、趨至會眾所、見災已降、立於生者死者間、炷香代贖其罪、厥災始弭、
