But before they turned from what they craved, even while the food was still in their mouths,

愚蒙人背道，害死自己，愚昧人安逸，自取滅亡。

神在夜裏臨到巴蘭那裏，說：「這些人若來求你，你就起來跟他們去吧，只是你必須照着我對你說的話去做。」巴蘭早晨起來，備了驢，就和摩押的官員一同去了。神因他去就怒氣發作；耶和華的使者站在路中間敵對他。他騎着驢，有兩個僕人跟隨他。

但肉在他們牙間還未咀嚼時，耶和華的怒氣向百姓發作，用極重的災禍擊殺百姓。那地方就叫基博羅‧哈他瓦，因為他們在那裏埋葬了貪慾的百姓。

「有一個財主穿着紫色袍和細麻布衣服，天天奢華宴樂。又有一個討飯的，名叫拉撒路，渾身長瘡，被人放在財主門口，想得財主桌子上掉下來的碎食充飢，甚至還有狗來舔他的瘡。後來那討飯的死了，被天使帶去放在亞伯拉罕的懷裏。財主也死了，並且埋葬了。他在陰間受苦，舉目遠遠地望見亞伯拉罕，又望見拉撒路在他懷裏，
