所以，耶和华听见就发怒；有烈火向雅各烧起；有怒气向以色列上腾；

故此永恆主聽見，就震怒；有烈火向雅各燒起；有怒氣向以色列上騰；

耶和華聽了就動怒，烈火向雅各燃起，怒氣也向以色列上騰；

耶和華聞之而怒、忿熾於雅各、怒騰於以色列兮、

耶和華聞此、震怒雅各家、以色列族、勢若烈燄兮、

主聞之甚不悅、向雅各氣如烈火、向以色列人大震厥怒、

雅瑋聞語。炎炎其忿。其忿緣何。

When the Lord heard them, he was furious; his fire broke out against Jacob, and his wrath rose against Israel,

When the Lord heard what they said, he was very angry. His anger broke out like fire against the people of Jacob. He became very angry with Israel.

for our“ God is a consuming fire.” (niv)

For a fire will be kindled by my wrath, one that burns down to the realm of the dead below. It will devour the earth and its harvests and set afire the foundations of the mountains. (niv)

Now the people complained about their hardships in the hearing of the Lord, and when he heard them his anger was aroused. Then fire from the Lord burned among them and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.When the people cried out to Moses, he prayed to the Lord and the fire died down.So that place was called Taberah, because fire from the Lord had burned among them. Moses heard the people of every family wailing at the entrance to their tents. The Lord became exceedingly angry, and Moses was troubled. (niv)

God’s anger rose against them; he put to death the sturdiest among them, cutting down the young men of Israel. (niv)

These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come. (niv)

Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. (niv)

Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered in the wilderness. (niv)
